This axe was forged from a bar of 1045..The hammer poll was hardned and heat treated just like a regular hammer.The blade is edge hardened and tempered.Very sharp..The cutting edge is 3" wide and the head is appx 6 3/4" long with a forge finish.The haft is straight grain hickory, lightly burned and then stained..Sealed with boiled linseed oil and then finished with wax..The sheath is made from 8oz leather and sealed with neatsfoot oil..
