I have been forging these for several years, selling them to campers, hunters and backpackers with good feedback from the users. I keep one in a day pack in my pickup with other equipment so it's ready to go into the woods with me on a hunt or hike.
I forged this from 1085 high carbon steel
The edge is heat treated to Rc 56-60 with the body somewhat softer
Hand made white ash handle 13 inches long
Cutting edge approximately 3 inches
