A little axe that a lot of my customers keep in their pick up so it is always ready to go into the woods. I forge these from 1 inch square 1085 and heat treat the cutting edge the same as I do my knives: Rc 58-60 with 5 heat treating cycles for a fine grain. They are very sharp and will stay sharp with heavy use. The blade is purposely thin for chopping and slicing.
Forged from 1 inch 1085
Heat treated with three normalizing and two tempering cycles
Differentially heat treated to Rc 58-60 on about 1 inch of the edge with a softer body
12 inch handle, 7 inch long head with a 3 inch cutting edge
Weight: 1 pound, 6 ounces
Hickory handle
Leather edge protector, no belt loop
