Once in a while, it's nice to get off "the Porch" and rough it for awhile. My lovely (and supportive) wife and I recently took a camping trip to north central Washington state (the other Washington). We decided to CAMP BIG old style this year and photograph some of the "BIG STUFF" we needed. :)

Of course we needed BIG KNIVES::)

As a BIG time camping fanatic, loved the post! Thank you so much! My big camp knife is a Becker BK9.

Looks like a mighty permanent camp to me!
Worthy of a whole lot of R&R!!:)
Thanks for showing us how it's done!!!

That certainly looked like a nice spot to spend a good long while. Especially with that camping setup you have.

Unfortunately, I do not get to camp nearly as much as I would like these days. My only camping last year was a week out at an archaeological field school. Which was wonderful, but I am an archaeologist, I wanted the full six weeks. And a six week field school is not all the camping that i want to do in a year! But needs must, and with (now two) small children I probably won't get any field time this year :(

But here's the last trip:
It was out near Fort Rock Oregon

The sunsets out there in the Northern Great Basin are pretty spectacular

And just to keep this somewhat knife related
View media item 457That is a projectile point from deep in the site. I'm not the primary investigator, so I don't want to make too grandiose of claims, but all of the dates coming out of the site that far down are better than 10,000 calendar years old. So when you want to talk about traditional, how's that for old fashioned?

Very cool! Love the wall tent. We went with Range Teepees:

gunstockjack gunstockjack Barry: Great Post. Thank you! I would say: Your wife is definitely better lookin than you are!:D You have a nice looking Dreadnaught guitar there. Is that a Martin? Even your cute dog is better lookin than you are:D

Some great shots there my friend. Hope you had a great time!

Ever since I first laid eyes on a big Texas camp knife I've wanted one. Had just about gotten over it..... and now.... of course.....
-- Any way, those are some beautiful places you folks have posted. My better half and I spent last October camping thru the four - corners area. Seems to be our favorite part of the country the last few years. I will post one campsite that we found exceptional.
First shot is the rig set up for the night.
Second shot is 50 feet straight out from the front door.DSC_0228.JPGDSC_0211.JPG

As you get older, I think many of use think about camping "big". Not saying sleeping in your little back pack tent is not a good thing, but I would do it only when I have to. Car camping can be a lot of fun. Camping with a trailer can be great too.

Great thread Barry!!! You are livin LARGE!!
Good to see your wife and Jake again!
Hope the fishin's good!!

Another Great scan Charlie!! Love the Russian Blues the engraving and the BIG Punch!!!!!

Fantastic photos Dwight! I may have to get me one of those camp knives. I keep looking for an old BS knife like the one I had as a kid, but can't find it.

Thanks Alan..... funny thing is ole @Crossdraw just posted one of the CC texas camp knives on the exchange and I hummed and hawed and fretted and frowned and geed and hawed until I saw Barry's knife; then I took it as an good omen, so I rushed back to his post ....and, of course.... alas.... he who hesitates.....lol...and then Charlie has to rub it in by posting ANOTHER ONE!!!!!
