SOLD

Camp Bowie/Chopper, 10” blade x 2” wide, 15” overall. Forged from W2, this chopper is a hefty .365 at the spine, with moderate distal taper. Convex edge, double tempered, ready for hard use. Copper guard will take a nice red/brown color in short time... kind of the color of an old penny. You can see the hamon through the brushed/bead blastedt finish. The handle is Curly Maple that has been “stressed” to give a nice texture for a secure grip during hard use.

$495, with soft case, $550 with soft case/leather sheath.

feel free to call or email, thanks, Matt

Matt - Very nice!! It looks like the brother to the bowie I bought from you a couple of months ago, except this one is fatter!!!

thanks guys, not sure on the weight, definitely a chopper though. That does remind me , i need to go buy a digital scale.

Dang that is one sweet looking knife! I'm hoping to get an order placed with you in the near future. Outstanding work.

Is that a solid piece on the handle or is it mortised? Is it stabilized? Also, about how far back does the tang go?

Thanks. Good looking piece!

hi Chris, its a mortise tang, the tang is almost as wide as the handle/guard junction, doing a hidden tang i find difficult to do with a tang this wide. It runs to within 3/8" or so of the handle butt end.

I believe its sold, have to wait to hear back from the customer.

Forgot to add, the wood isnt stabilized , i generally dont use stablized woods especially on big heavy choppers.

Mr. Lamey, You are wrecking my resolve regarding my resolution for zero fixed blade purchases for 2010.
The knife in this thread, more to the point the ~Hamon~ in this knife as well as some of the knives on your website are breaking me down. I was for sure going to find a forumite maker to purchase a custom folder from this year, but I so desperately want either one of your Cleavers or the 1095 Tanto I viewed in your gallery. Just stunning work IMHO!!! Once I recover fully from last years layoff from work, I will contact you on one of the other or both of the above mentioned pieces. Just wonderful and outstanding craftsmanship, sir!:thumbup::) That's all for now... ~baba~

Bringing this one back up...Matt, is it possible to recreate a beast very similar? I have to own one....
