I tried the poor man's Google search of this site, but didn't find any threads like this. Any of you have good pics of chairs, tables, racks, or even a bedframe you built in camp from scavenged material?

Hi all,

I made a log chair for one of my campsites this last summer.

It is nice sit in instead of just sitting on the ground or leaning up against a tree at time.

It is nice to sit in and split wood with.

After I have split some wood I like to then sit in my chair and make fuzz sticks

and when I am not sitting in my chair but across from it while lying down or sitting on my camping mat by the fire and just being able to look across the fire and see it and knowing that I built that log chair is is really kind of cool I think :D

Even my wife will sit in it once in a while

Here is a pic of my campsite. I tied up the canvas tarp side up a little higher that day and then took this pic of it. In the pic and to the left side is where my log chair sits. I have some spilt walnut wood sitting on one side of the seat part in this pic. All in all it gives you a idea of the campsite set up.

Sicily, that looks pretty cool. Is the seat just canitilevered against the weight of the logs behind it?

Rib Salad, thanks. I really like my log chair. It really works pretty darn good for what I wanted it for. As to your ? This is the drawing I used for making up my chair. I hope this answers your ?.

In stead of doing like the drawing shows. I used about 15' of wire instead of rope to tie everything into place. With some wire and some sticks you can really make up some neat stuff.

I have some more logs cut for making up a another chair. I was thinking this for the next one a little bigger like a couch lol. We will see thoughlol.

The book is called Six Ways In and Twelve Ways Out by George Jasper of the
(United States Rescue and Special Operations Group). Just type that in a search on google or what ever and it sould take you to there website.
George is a retired US Army Ranger. I highly recomend this book it is a great one.
I think it like $12 or so.

Several good examples posted here. I'm really interested in trying that picnic table shown in the book Sicily posted. If anyone else has photos of camp furniture you made, please post them.
