For the camper that wants a large knife I ground this one thinner than most. It will slice beautifully but maybe not thick enough (about 3/16") at the spine to baton firewood.

Forged from 5160
Flat grind to a fine secondary edge
Hand sanded to 600 grit
Curly maple handle stabilized in my shop
Overall length: 11 inches
Blade: 6 3/4 inches
Riveted leather scabbard

$170 ----SOLD----delivered to the US or Canada. My PayPal account is gldrewknives@yahoo.com USPS money order or a check with time to clear also accepted.

If you have to baton you should be using a hatchet. Knives are not meant to be pounded though I do concede the occasional necessity.

Would that be on the pelvic bone of a harvested animal? I had a customer once that sent me a note saying he separated the pelvic bone of a white tail using one of my knives hitting it with a Mag Light for a baton. The knife was OK but he could never get the flash light to work again.

I wouldn't try that unless the Mag Light was made by G. L. Drew! :)
