Steel: D5, forged from round stock. If you're not familiar with D5, it's very similar to D2. I haven't done any side by side comparison tests, but judging from the chemistry, I would predict that D5 would be slightly less wear resistant, slightly more corrosion resistant, and probably a little tougher. It's easier to work with, and takes a better polish. It doesn't have the orange peel problem that D2 has.

Hardness: 59 RC

Blade length: 8-1/4"

Total length: 13-1/4"

Blade thickness: about 1/4" Tapered tang, of course.

Handle material: green canvas micarta
