Taking a hike this summer in the Adirondack Mountains. Thought I'd make me a knife to take with me.
blade: 7 3/4 in. 5160
Curley maple handle (the "curl" didn't show up real well in the pics)
home made mosaic pins (again, can't see real well in the pics) got the idea from north coast knives website.
It's SHARP. I was buffing the handle by hand, and it slipped. I instinctively went to catch it and in a split second thought better of it...as I was frantically pulling my hand back, the blade tapped my thumb and split it wide open.
 
thanks Ray, It feels great in my hand, and usually I am more a fan of smaller knives. I may start to make more big ones 'cause I like this one so much.
 
Why is it I keep wanting to pull it out of my jacket, and say
"that's not a knife....*pull it out* now THAT'S a knife!" in my best Australian accent, which is pretty poor.
