Glad you & the pup weren't bitten!

LOL but were they, ummmmm... Interrupted mid-coitus? LOL intertwined, I was just wondering... Mebbe ya could've let 'em finish, give 'em a couple of cigs... and then sent them on to their next life?? :D LOL

Hey, next time you have to take one (or more out), I think leatherman stated in another thread that he's looking for some snake skins for sheath inlay. Just thought I'd mention this for him. Especially since the larger rattler had a beautiful skin worthy of fine sheaths. :)

Thanks for the compliments Guys. It was one of the most memorable trips in recent years and I didn't have to go that far to find the action! I don't normally do this much writing for a routing trip into the woods.;)

Here's a link I found on the snakes that was beneficial to me.http://www.idahogeocachers.org/rattlesnakes.htm

I've promised a couple of the kids in the neighborhood they can have the skins when they are ready (one has been pestering my wife all weeks). I'd hate to renig on giving them away, but maybe I can barter so I can send at least one to be made into a sheath? I hadn't really thought of that when I was prepping them. All I know is at the time my wife kept saying she didn't want them in the house......:grumpy:

I pulled the snake skins off the board tonight and cleaned the salt off of them. Any ideas on what I should do to make them more pliable? They are pretty stiff right now, but their rattles work well!

I'll have to try the picture editing, Vassili.

Ken, I've had several 686's and this one is probably my favorite - 7 shots and no "L" hole on the side.

I too, am glad we weren't bitten! As I said above, that was one of my worst fears about being out by myself, and it was a long way to get some real help. I did have a snake bite extractor with me in the truck, the one that is a like a syringe, but pumps when you depress it. Really wasn't prepared to see how well it worked, though, and then try to drive back past a canyon that is several hundred feet deep. :thumbdn:
