Camping flaslight for my GF

Yup, that's the one I mentioned in one of my posts above. The irritating the about the PAL is the cycling through the modes every time you use it.

Off mode
1st click: low beam
2nd click: high beam
3rd click: strobe (irritating because you think it's off but it's not)
4th click: off mode

Some people also complain about the beam being too narrow, but that's solved by popping the lens out and flipping it over to give you more of a flood type beam. I haven't tried it personally, since it's never bothered me.

Sounds to me like a MagLite would be a good choice.
That's what I thought...A (2) C-cell Mag-Lite would be just about perfect as a "camp light", but not for that picky lady!..

You may want to look at the Princeton Tec 7 led. It has a click switch on the tail. Uses 4 aa batts.
It really holds up to drops well :)
From the voice of experience.
Good light output
~ 6 inches if I remem....
Good Luck.
Look into modding a 2c Mag! tho still too long.
Pop 3x123 batts with Radio shack KPR112 bulb probably as bright as most SF
You'll never look back :)

I didn't realize theStreamlight was an LED. It's over 6". Otherwise yeah, that was an early choice. Might take another peek at it, although she prefers a switch on the body -vs- the- the tail end.

The X5 is "twist on / off", which she doesn't like. I have an X5 and X5T I offered her.

The Fliklite is very cool -- first I've seen of those. Not a fan of the N-cells though.

How about a Streamlight Scorpion? A little more expensive than some of the others mentioned, but a great light. Very bright, too, and it has an off/on clickie tail cap.

"Very bright" is actually BAD in this case.

The 3 lumens of my A2 on "low" is plenty. In fact, I think I might have been better off with an L1 -vs- an A2 for my camping flashlight.

Oh, OK. How about an Arc AAA, then, on a lanyard around your girlfriend's neck or attached to a belt loop? It doesn't have a click switch, but it's so little and cute that I'll bet your girlfriend would love it.

I've got an Arc AAA and a CMG Infinity Ultra, but they're too small. She's afraid she'd lose them.

I was sort of hoping for an excuse to buy her an Arc LSH-P and just tell her it was $35 or something, but again -- too small.

:(

Also thinking maybe I could go with an L1 or an L4, but they're not quite right either -- the L1 doesn't have a "clickie" switch, and the L4 is really TOO bright, with a short runtime.

:-(

How about one of PrincetonTech's offerings? I have a number of their lamps and I can attest to their brightness, durability, and high burn time. You should check out:
-Attitude- 3 LED's, nice and light, about the size of a mini maglight in length, takes 4 AA's, waterproof up to 2000 feet, lanyard loop, costs about 20 dollars, easy to find, easy to replace

-Blast- xenon lamp, about the size of an E1 but has an integral zytel pocket clip instead of the metal clip, takes 2 AA's, lanyard loop, nice and bright, about as bright as the aforementioned E1, costs about 8 dollars,

Either of the above would be perfect IMO. Attach a lanyard for security and you'll be ready to go.
Thanks,
Matt

Sounds like your asking for iether the CMG Reactor or the Reactor 3AA.

The ARC-LS with 2AA or ARC-AAA, Or an E2E-KL1 would be
better but for the size problem.

As already said the Opalec NewBeam LED in a
M@g-light mite also be good.

P.S. I'm Atrick-Pay on CPF as well

Mini-Mags can be made into clickys by adding a RAM or a Kroll tailcap switch (approx $4).
Add the Opalec module or a luxeon pill and then you've got everything you asked for.

Pretty much -- she'd still prefer a body-mounted switch to a tailswitch, but yeah, that would do it.

What kind of run-times do you get with a Luxeon pill?

Is there any good one-stop shopping site for a luxeon drop-in and "clickie" tailswitch? I'll order them right now!

The link GJW gave is REALLY good this is Dat2Zip. A reliable and honest guy with great modding stuff. You won't go wrong there :)
I have the BadBoy and MadMax in MiniMags 2aa with lithiums. Splendid lights
