Havent been camping in 7 years or so. What should i bring for a blade. I have one fixed blade and a bunch of folders. Heres what i have to choose from that i trust/carry.

-Frosts Clipper
-Buck 110
-Kershaw Wildcat Ridge
-Buck X-Tract
-Victorinox Swisstool (Bringing no matter what)
-Benchmade Benchmite II
-Benchmade Griptilian 551S (Partial Serration)
-Kershaw Blur (Plain Edge)
-CRKT M16-03
-Victorinox Centurion

I know this should be in outdoors but i think it should go here, it is about knives more than camping lol. I'm bringing a hatchet too.

I would go with becker-ka-bar #2 and # 7. Rat cutlery has excellent equipment but it is a bit pricey. If you go Rat I would go with a #3 or 4 and a#6 or an izula:D

Out of the ones you listed, the Mora. If you have a choice, a Becker BK-2 (along with the Swisstool, of course).

The Buck 110. Spent 15 days in a deer camp with nothing more than a 110 on my belt and never felt lacking.

Hi,

I'd get a Mora for a fixed blade camp knife. I like the S-1, but the 510 is good too.

If you like folders better, the Buck 110 is a classic for a very good reasons.

You can spend a lot more money for a knife. But you would be hard pressed to buy better than either of these two knives.

I would bring the Mora, the swisstool and either the Buck or the Grip.

That said, if you're summer camping and not too far off the beaten path, the swisstool or the centurion is probably all you would need.

All you need is a good leatherman surge, a 3-6 inch fixed all perpose knife. I highly rec, Rat cutlery. and a small axe. thats all that is needed for knife chorse. Also, swiss rucksac is a great pocket knife, have had min fer 4 years now and its like new everytime i use it.

I know i probably didn't make myself clear but i listed the ones available to bring. I have no extra money for stuff or id buy something from RAT cutlery for sure.

Yeah, i'm also going to pack a beater knife for the people i'm camping with incase i'm asked to lend a knife. You guys know what accompanies careless people and our knives...

Rat Cutlery is not that expensive considering what you get. On the other hand you pay considerably less for Beckers and they are worth easily twice what they go for. I just got my BK7 today and am still trying to figgure out how long I went without this knife, it is perfect for about every application.

Tent / woods camping or camper camping (the answer depends on if you're married or not lol)

After years of camping (organized campgrounds) I found that all i really NEEDED was a good multi-tool. I took either my Swisstool or LM Wave, then Surge.

I found myself looking a little Batman like with all the gear, knowing that I could walk 3 minutes to the camp store to buy anything I needed.

Nice getting out and about again.

Since you are bringing the Swisstool and the hatchet you have two of your harder use tools out of the way. I'd also bring the Griptilian with you. I carry one whenever I am out in the woods and it sees more use than any other knife I own. It's easy to open/close one handed and is always at your finger tips, plus it'll take a beating.

I'd add the Frost Clipper to the mix as well so you have a FB with you for preparing kindling, food prep, etc. Yes, you can do those types of chores with the Grip, but I like to save the blade of my small folders for more intricate tasks when I'm out and about. The Clipper will serve you well from what I hear - I have never owned one.

Like I said - you can save the blade of the Clipper by using the hatchet you are bringing along. Just make sure they are all sharp before you head out  and stay safe :D

Oh - and post pics in WS&S when you get back.

I'll do that. I'm bringing a cam so ill get those pics up when i get home. I think ill bring the clippper, swisstool, grippy and my old supertinker for whoever wants to borrow a knife.

If you are going to use it mostly for food prep and light camp chores, the Clipper is about perfect. Next would be the 110.

When I think of camping, I think of car camping. Therefore, there are no weight or size restrictions and I recommend bringing all your knives on the first trip, seeing which ones you use, and bring only those the next time. If however I were going backpacking, I'd bring the 110 as it is versatile.
