Hello,
I was wondering if anyone has had any issues with purchasing from the website www.campingsurvival.com. I see some things here that I would like to buy, but I just had my credit card # stolen and i'm weary of buying from this site for some reason.

Thanks.

Was It Stolen On Line Or At The Store It Self/resturants;the Reason I Ask Is Because Most Reputable On Line Stores Are Safer Than The Gas Station/resturaunts We All Actually Hand Our Card Out To.if You Have A Bad Feeling Trust Your Gut...

I have purchased from campingsurvival.com several times..Excellent service (fast) and no problems.

I have ordered from campingsurvival.com several times and have had no problems. quick service good prices and no security problems.

I know Tom Sciacca personally and he is a stand up guy. I purchased two klean kanteens from him and before I could pay for them, he had them en route shipped to me. He is very good with prices and I like purchasing gear from guys I know instead of an anonymous site.

Let him know I sent you and if you get a chance, check out his "dirt time" page.

I purchased my BRK&T Fox River from campingsurvival.com the blade has Wilderness learning center etched on it, is Tom connected to the school in any way.

Tom is a regular student of the Wilderness Learning Center. He and I attended the Wild Plant's Intensive Course this past summer. Pictures of his experience during the Basic Course can be found on his "dirt time" page. He is also a regular attendee of the camping trips the school holds.

Here is a picture from last February on the winter trip. Tom is the guy in the yellow parka. We had a blast on this trip and Tom was generous enough to bring all sorts of emergency food he sells for us to try out.

The great thing is the fact Tom tries everything he sells. Sometimes, all it takes for Tom to carry something or add it to his inventory is a phone call. He'll get you the gear you need.

I've shopped there a lot, it's a good store. They are very quick to ship and haven't ever gotten my order wrong. The prices and selection are solid.

CampingSurvival is a great place to shop! Not only that, but Tom is a real good guy to boot.

I have nothing but good things to say about that place. I forget how it actually happened, but I ordered a $20 item from them and something went wrong. I really hate buying things on-line, so I get a little over-frustrated when purchases don't work out, usually because of crappy customer service or bad policies.

So anyway, I called them and was absolutely AMAZED at how great they were. They were the best example of customer service I've ever personally experienced on-line. I was so impressed that I spoke to Tom directly and told him that because of the way his employee handled my problem I wanted to reward him and his company with my business.

I proceeded to buy a Leatherman Wave and a Ka-Bar Tanto and some other stuff (that I really didn't need) until my bill was at $200. I told one of them that since I canceled an order and they gave me 10 times the support any other store was going to give me that they were getting 10 times my business that day. I strongly believe in supporting businesses and businessmen like Tom who always go the extra mile and because of their superior service they turned a $20 loss into a $200 gain.

I wouldn't hesitate to do it again, either. In fact, I always check their store first for anything I want to buy on-line and if they have it then they get the sale hands down. I don't even care if it's available anywhere else for less, I don't mind paying extra to a company I know I can trust.

I would imagine that they exercise a lot of caution in protecting their on-line customers, but if you are still gun-shy about using your card on-line you can PM me and I can give you the email address of the awesome woman I dealt with in shipping. I'm sure they can arrange a payment over the phone or something to accommodate you.

In fact, thanks for starting this thread. I've saved up to get my best buddy a Charge TTi for Christmas and I think I will order it right now from their shop.

Mike,
The only way that Tom of Camping/Survival is connected to my school is that he is a great friend, great student and just a really nice guy. He liked my school knife so much that he decided to carry it on his web-site including my plant DVD. I have never heard of any complaints about his business or his service. He is an honest individual and he is one of us.

I've purchased from campingsurvival, and like everyone says, good service, and fast! I like em ;) good luck.

Wow! This really makes it worth it. I’ve been doing this for a while, but feedback like this makes me think that maybe this works. This is what I do for a living, but when the business of it gets overwhelming, it’s great to see this and realize that I might be doing something other than just providing for my family. I talk with people every day that are just “getting into survival” and thanks to the people I consider friends and teachers (some of which are on this forum) I can offer some good info other than “buy a bunch of survival gear and you’ll be fine” like some other some companies do.

Khalnath, we do ship to Canada. However with all that we have experienced, and we’re still learning, we have to be careful. Check this out and feel free to contact me http://www.campingsurvival.com/inor.html.

Again, what a great thing it is to log in here an read all this.

Thanks much, Tom

Looked pretty good, then I discovered he won't ship to Canada.

Thanks a lot, Tom. :P

I think he does (at least I hope he does--I've got a few things I want to order from him). From the website:

We do accept orders from outside the United States. However, our web site does not. To place an International order you must email or fax us. Also we do not accept International credit cards. We do accept bank checks and/or wires for international orders. As the customer you will assume all shipping responsibilities such as customs charges, wire transfer charges, and freight. Contact us today to put together an order quotation or any other questions.

Because of the potential for expensive errors, we prefer to work on international orders via email.

We look forward to hearing from you.

For customer service & returns please email: sheryl@campingsurvival.com

Of course I think they use UPS by default so I'd definely ask about having it shipped some other way to avoid the unpleasantness of a $40 surprise brokerage fee when you get your stuff.
