Can a machine gun chop off a tree?

really dug the gun but wonder how much it cost to do the deed.

Depending upon setting, they shoot between 3,000 and 6,000 rounds a minute.

At the cheapest price I could find online for surplus .308($.18/round), that works out to $540 -$1,080 per minute of constant fire. The .308 that I shoot costs more like $1.25 per round...THAT would be a whole lot of money!

so is it yours or are ya using someone elses?

is it fairly reliable? i bet its like a water hose, it shoots so fast & has so little (no?) recoil.

i saw a guy shooting one back in the early '80s, his seemed to have reliability issues,

cool rifle, no doubt.

as far as trees go, i saw a program, on natgeo IIRC, "history of automatic weapons" or similar, they shot down a fairly big tree with a vickers MG, looked to be a .30-'06 to me vs a .303, and it didnt take that long to do it, i guess everyones shooting down trees with MG's nowadays, its gonna PO the tree huggers lol.

It's dads and runs like a freight train. There are about 4 or so other folks who have 180's that come to the local matches. Indeed it runs fast , but with practice you can pull of 3 or 4 round bursts.
