Can anyone confirm a future RAT Folder?

Maybe I should re-do this... What I am really asking is can we expect RAT to ever add a new folder to the line? And if so, will it be any time this year? My question is because right now I am on the fence about getting a Sebenza, I really like the quality, but the pricing annoys me to all ends. I know,I know, the money they make off of those is what they eat off of, but it's just not Ideal pricing. Sue me for my opinion.
...Second, somewhere in this thread I said that I would like to have a s30v steel and what not, but now I am thinking about how stupid of a statement that was. I have read and seen enough to know that RAT is above what I though it was, it isn't some Business giant where most of the employees don't even know some of their own companies products, It is a dedicated company where they build tools they would use. Personal experience and hard work goes into their products. With this knowledge, I refuse to believe that they could possibly make a "bad" folder.
If I can expect a folder to come out eventually, hopefully this year, then I will abandon my wants for a sebenza and get my first rat fixed blade knife, and be patient for the folder..

If I could put my 2 cents in, I would like a basic one hand opening folder. Preferably a thumb stud. No preference on blade steel, I trust you with that decision. Assist openings are nice but un-needed in my opinion, and would take away the simplicity. Random add-in, I just bought the "SAS Handbook" by John "Lofty" Wiseman. Great book!!! There is even a knife section...

We know it'll happen. No one knows quite when though--not even the RAT crew. :)

The simple answer is "not soon enough." An alternate is "be patient!" :D

I am hoping and praying that it is not made from one of the modern wonder steels. 1095 would be just fine with me.

Some people complain about the ammount of time it takes for RAT to bring new designs to market but personally, I like that Jeff and Mike and Shon do everything they can to ensure a quality product that works.

When you buy a RAT, you can rest assured that the design has been tested and tried. If Jeff and Mike don't like it, it gets scrapped regardless of how much time and energy has gone into it to that point.

I'm not saying anyone is complaining, just thinking out loud.

My thoughts exactly!

I hope they're not too fast about bringing it out. I'm new to RATS and I've just started working on the fixed blades. If they bring out a folder, it will likely go right to the top of my list.

My wallet needs a breather.:o

I'm a noob Rat owner (just got an Izula).
Would the new folder be based on the Rat-1 (Ontario made) folder?
I have the Rat-1, i like it but would REALLY like it if it had a kick/flipper (i don't mean assisted opening, no springs please, lol).
As far a button openers go the Rat-1 folder is my favorite but really i prefer a Kick/flipper and/or the Spyderco style openers.

And as mentioned in a post above it would be cool if the new folder was in 1095 carbon steel!
A Rat folder with a kick/flipper, in 1095 with maximized cutting area/minimized choil length would be truly awesome!

RC Folder YES ! Time frame or time line when release No ! But in tha works ... yes..could still be on paper or in R&D stages... who knows ;)

You know, I usually argue when people compare RAT and Busse.

But I don't think it'll be too far in the future when Jeff is asked when something will be out, that he'll just say:

Two weeks!
Let's drink!!!

:eek::D

I'd like to see a no none sense, EDC ,Heavy Duty, Utility folder, if any one can do it, you guys at RAT will succeed. :)

Just wondering, will it have the same warranty like other rat knives or would that be asking for too much?

amen!

It would be awesome if we could get a frame-locking, s30v steeled, titanium handled knife. Just my suggestion? I'm just saying if there was a quality RAT folder I probably wouldn't always be in the CRK section. AS of right now, they make my favorite folders, but I wish RAT would make something of similar quality. Especially with a very competitive warranty to CRK, that would be so amazing.

I don't want the folder to be in a supersteel, either. I would be fine with it being 1095, as I already know how to care for RATs 1095, as I am used to it.

using stuff like titanium , super steels etc... i feel it just inflates the price of a folder... if you make a good basic design out of common steels ... then you can release a limited edtion tweeked super model i guess... but a basic useful folder thats built like a tank is how i like em.....
