I have a Sonderklasse kitchen knife with this written on the blade-
1.4116X45CrMoV15. Can anyone say what type of steel is this, or closest American equivilent.
Thanks in advance
It is a stainless steel chromiun >12% (here 14-15%). It has carbon, so it may be heat treated. (C=0.45-55%); however, the carbon content is not as high as some carbon steels. The vanadium and molybdenum are in there to aid in heat treating and increase toughtness.
It is probably a good all around Stainless for knives.
