can anyone offer some info on this Schrade Walden? (pics inside)

Now Louis brings up an interesting idea.
An on line museum. Avoids the legal "display" issues of our favorites and with over 50% of USA households now having internet access we have a much larger audience than a brick and mortar building. 24x7 access.

How would we go about it?

There are a few of us in here that have web pages. Most of us have web storage space we get from our isp connections. Most of us have published pictures on the web one place or another. Hmmm.... Anyone thought about distributed web space besides me? We have the ability. We won't be selling anything.

Thoughts??

Allyourblood... thanks again for dropping in here. Your simple question has ballooned into a really great discussion and display of great old knives, and enticed our LT into showing off and adding to our knowledge. Please don't be a stranger here.

LT... Pathetic life? Bullpukey and we all know it. Thanks for everything you've given us here.

Larry... As our LT would say... deal me in. Sounds like a fascinating idea.

Did you get another melon tester/fruit knife? If so, tell us about it.

As Phil has said, this certainly has become an enjoyable and educational thread. It's great to see what others have been lucky enough to collect.

i completed my order with SMKW the other day, but it still has not arrived. i'm not sure how quick they are at shipping, maybe Monday? i hope so. i cannot wait to get this knife. i've received 3 much more expensive knives in the past week, and none have me as expectant as the Schrade.

on another Schrade-related note, i stopped by my parents' house last nite to install my brother's computer into a new case. before we got started, i was sharpening some of my dad's knives (i do this for him every other week -- he dulls them FAST!). he kept bringing out knives that he's been collecting and gave a nice assortment of them to me. 3 of the knives were Schrades.

one of them was an Old Timer stockman that he had given to me when i was 11. i thought it had long since been lost, but after i moved away he found it somewhere in the house and put it away! this is my first "real" knife and i'm very excited to have it back in my collection. of course i was abusive to it as a youth, and the long, slender blade has a broken tip. i learned the hard way not to use a knife as a screwdriver.

there was another stockman in there, a duplicate of my old knife, but in far worse condition, and with a slightly different handle pattern (same material used in my OT, but maybe it was just worn down).

lastly there was a big daddy of an Old Timer, very similar to a Buck 112. i don't have it in front of me, but it seems like it had a number on the tang, i just forget.

so, this has been quite the week for memorable knives, for me, at least. thought you'd all like to hear the good news. now back to waiting for that MT.....
