I agree. My 3 year old can figure out the lock mechanism of most locking knives. I would never leave her alone with one either. However, if she does get her hands on it, I like the fact that there is an added step to slow her down before I get it from her. There have been instances where the knife has come loose, and she has gotten a hold of it, usually while we are horsing around.
The Benchmade, or I guess now the Harley Davidson, levitator lock series lock open and closes as well. Although they are pretty much a two hand affair, they can be done one handed with a bit of manual dexterity. Kershaw also has the speed bump (and spec bump mentioned above) with locks as well as the Ken Onion Centofante 1610, 1615. Most of the sliding locks on the Kershaws can be adjusted for tightness so even if they manage to figure it out you can tighten the screws and make it pretty tough for their little fingers. Schrade and S&W make some OTF assisted openners that have locks on them like the schrade viper. I wouldn't suggest them though if you think a leek might not be legal.
