Can anyone suggest a good custom knife sharpener?

A belt sander is the only way to go in this case. Well, you might be able to rough it out with a mill bastard file (PITA).
Good luck.

Excuse me, I mean someone that I can send the knife to. I do not have the necessary equipment or skills.

lol :) Now I understand.

But you probably could D.I.Y. with a coarse file (which might get used up during the project) a bench vise and sandpaper in a few different grits.

Richard J was the first guy I thought of, too. I've never sent any knives to him myself -- I have an Edge Pro and do my sharpening myself -- but I've never heard from anyone who was less than extremely pleased with his work. He'd be the first person I go to if I ever had a big fixed blade that I didn't want to take the time to sharpen on the Edge Pro. (Right now all of the knives that I use are folders, plus a couple of smaller fixed blades.)
