i recently traded a whole bunch of Himalayan Imports khukuris for one Busse ARK....

i basically had no need for the khukuris anymore and i wanted more busses....

so a fella saw my ad in the exchange forum and offered me a Busse ARK for all 4 of my khukuris...

i reluctantly accepted his offer...

it is a used knife....not exactly sure of the exact condition of the knife as the quality of the pics were not that good....

it has partial serrations and snakeskin slabs....the coating was stripped and given a satin finish...it comes with a buy brown sheath with a tek lok....

can anyone tell me a bit more about this knife??? how did i do in the trade???? the khukuris i traded can be found if you click on the link in my sig....

here are the pics:

ARK=Air Rescue Knife. See bussecollector's site (when it comes back up) for more info. Some old timers will give you info. on approx. value of your ARK and you'll be able to decide how you did. Busse blades at least retain and usually increase in value, sometimes markedly. Pete

i just realized i have no idea how big the blade is....

total overall length, things like that....info seems very hard to find about this knife....

all i know is that it's 3/16" thick.....

I would guess the ARK is in the $500's in terms of value. They are hard to find. They were offered on a 'special email offer' that Jerry used to do for people on a mailing list they maintained.

Looks to me like you got a good deal. Congrats :)

Edit:: If you need, or would rather have the cash, I'll take it off your hands for the $300 you offered your 4 knives for.

hey fellas, can anyone tell me the dimensions of this knife???

and assuming that there is no major damage to the blade, the home satin finish job wouldn't decrease the value???

As pmsayre153 suggested, I looked at the BusseCollector Catalog page, and here's what it says:

Air Rescue Knife (ARK)
Blade Steel INFI
Blade Length 5
Overall Length 10.75
Blade Thickness 0.187
List [release] Price* $227

* List price is only shown as a point of reference, current market value for a majority of these knives is almost double (in some cases triple) the list price.

thanks for the specs....

iwas thinking that it was GW sized, but it's a bit bigger.....

i've been wanting a midsized blade......

Here's a pic of one between a SJTAC (Mole Jack) and some game wardens. These few knives were the beginning of my long strange trip into Busse knives, and the beginnings of my humble collection.

As for value... Well, who can say for sure, but technically speaking, once a 'collectable' is used or modified, it loses overall current value as opposed to a new/mint 'collectable of the same type. BUT... These are no longer made, and increasing in value, and yours will also. I say that since someone else already modded it, USE it! You can always send it in to Busse down the road to have it cleaned up, and maybe even satin finished. It still won't be 'new', but it will be 'factory'.

well, thanks for the info fellas.....

i guess it is safe to assume that i lucked into a great trade!!!

maybe i'll trade it for an ASH....

Most did seem to and mine has 'em... 'Skunk just posted one with what looks to be black linen, and I'm thinking that his was a military issue he got his hands on?? I can't be sure and will probably be wrong on this, but I can't see the Government requesting snakeskin slabs on the military issue ones.:) Anyone know for a fact on this about what the military issue ones had for handle material??

kind of OT, but you looking to trade that satin snakeskin FFBM that you just got??? :D....
