Can black blades be resurfaced?

I've got an AFCK that has a very used black blade. Otherwise, it's in good shape. Can black blades be resurfaced? As I understand it, they're still protected to some degree, even when scratched, but this one could use a little tune up.

They can be recoated. Benchmade Knives has a forum you can ask them directly though it seems to be down now.
