Just snapped this shot under my silver maple in the back yard. It was in the 60's this morning, which feels great after weeks of mid to upper 90's.

Notice in lower right of photo, a little squirrell-cut branch off the old elm tree, which blew in amongst the maple leaves in the cool-front storm we had last night here in NW Arkansas.

Thought this might stir a little juice for some of you early season hunters.

Maybe you can imagine your favorite traditional in the picture, about to help ol' rustytail out of his Autumn suit. I imagined my Ray Cover D2 folder in the picture, and with photoshop...voila. :)

Now that is a good looking knife. No sign of autumn here yet. In fact it is warmer here today than it has been the rest of the summer.

What is this "Fall" thing you speak of?
We have summer and three days of winter here in south Florida.:D

As soon as I saw this picture I ran out in the yard and looked under my trees to see if any had shed a Cover. Nada. No signs of fall here in Tejas yet either.
Great knife and great picture, sir.

Ford,That bone on that Ray Cover knife really does have an"Autum" look to it
Indian Summer...my favorite :)

Rob, LMAO. :D:D:D

Around here, even if you don't hunt, it's a good idea to carry a knife. ;)

That is a beautiful shot. Thank you fP. Just looking at it lowered the virtual temp for me.
(It has been the hotest month ever in Bastidville. Nasty hot and humid here the last few weeks.) I get up at 4:15 and the temp is 77 before the sun even comes up. :D.

Beautiful picture, great knife. Just drove up the hill at noon to the local village, surprised to see some maples already changing colors. It's 92 and humid here today. But Fall is coming, my favorite time of year.

Gus, glad the pic lowered your virtual temp a hair. Even though it's s'posed to be back up in the mid 90's this coming week, I'm gonna' soak up all of this cool morning I can. One more hot week, and we'll probably be out of the heat spell for the summer.

Where is Bastidville?

Coldwood, Fall is my favorite time of year also.

Those leaves mean two things: Football and Fly Fishing!! Great pic few pop. I'll drop you a line if I make it up toward the White River this fall. I normally fish the Little Red, but had my first experience at Gastons this year and it was a good one. Attached below is the last trout I caught back in June. Nice Brown, 24 inches on the button Not too bad for a hot day!

On man, I wish fall was a bit farther away. I love summer, its my favorite time of year. Kayaking/canoeing, fishing on lazy days with my grandkids on a river or lake bank, shooting for hours out at the range and not freezing my and Karen's butts off. Then theres the crab feasts down home on the Choptank under the big oaks. Then theres the day and weekend trips on the Vespa's that me, Karen, Karens sister Diane, and brother in law Roger (The Mild Ones) take.

I'll miss summer. :(

On the other hand in winter there's oysters, and real watermen oyster stew, and...

Realstag, that is a very fine lookin' trout. I was over at Gaston's about 2 years ago, and the river was running real high that day. Caught about 5 keeper rainbows, and had a great time. Where do you live?

jackknife, I hear what you're saying. Always good to be grateful for the present, as well. Fresh oyster stew....mmm..mm!!!

Batidville is Atlanta. (about 17 min from the Blade Show ;))

SIgh. My inner wolfie tells me that it's autumn coming on. It remembers Southern Ohio, a little New England, and interior Alaska. The geese and sandhill cranes should have started gathering at Creamer's Field in Fairbanks by now.

Then I walk out side here in the San Antonio area and get hit with the heat and humidity and I get all tossed akimbo mentally. Kind of like expecting marshmallow cream only to find you've bitten into cream cheese. Yipes.

Man, I miss trout waters and such things. Here, for a little while you can fly fish parts of the Guadalupe River for trout in the winter when they stock it.

Back in my days on the farm in Ohio all us boys would be getting worked up just waiting for the opening of Squirrel season in September. It was the first season that opened. Kind of like Dove season is her in Texas. Or Moose season in Alaska. September is THE beginning for a lot of folks.

Enjoy it where ya got it guys.

That looks better than a "cover" on National Geographic..Well at least now that I'm an working my way toward old fart status :rolleyes: . Hey you Florida guys how come I only remember 1 day of winter last season..

The knife stands-out so much it appears to be floating on the leaves and grass.

As for fall I say bring it! Favorite time of year for me and winter is a close second. Can't wait to get out for some bass fishing when the weather cools here and the bass respark their appetites. I dread summers here in the Ca valley. :barf: Thank goodness the Sierras and the Bay aren't too far away

Thats a beautiful knife, but that squirrel pic's got me a little shook up,,,I think it might be time for a new 22:D

sierra, technically, it is floating, because I layered an older picture of the knife over a picture I took this morning of the leaves. Photoshop is fun. :)

Thanks for all the interesting comments, fellas. Seasonal changes are always potentially evocative of archetypal memories.
Or maybe it's just me. :o
