Can I filework/dremel backspring and blade of finished knife? Italian S/B

I want to disassemble a new/modern Italian switchblade and fancy it up a bit. Of course it's already been heat treated, because it's new from the factory. How can I file or dremel it? Will using the dremel weaken it or cause it to rust? Hope I'm being clear on this if not e mail me. I'd really like to do this thing and do it right.
