Can I get a TI-Slab for my XM-18 3.5"????

Ok... and my XM-18 is has been sold and shipped.... ;) considering I have no "ethical" alternatives to the bland scales...

You prob didn't need it anyway. Ricks scales aren't meant to be fashionable. They serve a purpose that obviously went right over your head. Enjoy your new knife.

No need to be fashionable, but the scales didn't look good to me.. it is all subjective, no need to get your panties in a wad about it and try to defend the knife from my subjective view, it just doesn't float my boat.. Sebenza's plain jane scales are far from fashionable, but they look a hell of a lot better to me... but maybe not to you, and serve the same purpose that seemed to have flown over my head ;). If I pay a lot of money for a knife.. I want it to look good as well as function properly.. the XM-18 functioned perfectly.. but it was fugly to me... so I got rid of it. I am liking the custom SMF that I got for it much better. The build on this one is spot on, fit and finish is perfect.. I got one of the lucky ones I guess as it is as good as the sebenzas and the XM-18 I had, and it looks great too. Not to mention it feels incredible in the hand.

The only reason I got the XM-18 is that I was offered it in a trade I couldn't refuse, so I figured I would try it out because of all the hoopla surrounding it and disregard the looks. I tried it out, still didn't think it looked good, and traded it out for something just as tough and functional and looks much better to me.

So to all of you haters out there... the XM-18's fit and finish is perfect and it is a heavy duty knife... if you think it looks great then it is your holy grail folder.. me.. not so much and there are other alternatives that are just as tough. Again fit and finish is as good as it gets.. but looks (SUBJECTIVE) not so much... lol :D. And since I could not get custom scales for the XM-18 without completely voiding my warranty the knife has left the building, simple as that. Feel free to hate some more....

No body is hating on you sir. Honestly I don't think anyone gives a shit what you do with your knives. The prob is you coming to Ricks forum and trolling the hell out of it. Not everyone NEEDS to love Ricks knives. You are obviously one of those few that don't. You voiced your opinion. We got your point. Now please. With all due respect. Shut the hell up about it. Trolling is gonna get you no where. Everyone has their right to their own opinion and this one is mine. So now that you no longer own a Hinderer and have made it obvious that you don't care for them. Move along. You have nothing left to contribute here. Sebenzas are amazing knives. Enjoy yours.

I thought I would share a message sent to me from vicbastige...

Look here, why don't you mind your own business and let "the best in the business" stand up for themselves? *In fact, I did and did not post it on their forum. What silly Rick and Rob don't understand is that custom scale makers offer something they can't. *I own my XM's because of the ability to purchase custom scales. *If income is their reason, their position is flawed and myopic.

Also, why not send me a message like I have INSTEAD of calling me out in public to curry favor? *Very Bush.

And for the record I calked you out in public because you posted here in the subforum and I responded to your post. Have a nice day.

I'm with you on many points. First is, the Hinderer is the finest folder I have come across and I feel it will likely stay that way. The other good thing is apparently I have more money than integrity or good sense. I can and will continue to buy, pimp and share my Hinderer's with others, just not here as requested. if that has voided the warranty, fine. The knives are so good that I will likely never need warranty work since I cut with it rather than pry. respectfully I would not ask for warranty coverage because of compromising the construction of my knife with a scale change. Either way, RHK will continue to sell as many as they can make because of the quality...and great thing to see an AMERICAN made product doing so well.

Rob/Rick why not contract with a custom scale maker who has the time and inclination to build one-off scales and offer them through your web site at a price that suits you? If money is really the only issue it would address that and at the same time allow you quality control.

lol.... this thread was a serious thread on how to acquire a TI scale through Mr. Hinderer himself, and very respectfully so... nice to see you getting all pissed about it though... I was just trying to cleary explain, and point out, Hinderer knives are excellent quality and the reasons why I personally didn't like one so not to offend people as yourself... lol...

Let's see what your irrational response will be this time... ;)..... enjoy the incredible hinderer XM-18's to those who have them... they truly are great hard working knives worth the price. This thread is now going no where fast... please close.

The way you come off seems very respectful sir. You have an opinion and you stated it. That is very much respected and it's appreciated. Please forgive some of us for getting a little more serious than other members here. That is because Rick and Rob are not only knifemakers To some of us. They're close personal friends who's work is very much appreciated and respected by those of us who use them as they're intended to be used.

Others choose to come on here and bad mouth their work for no apparent reason. Like I stated earlier. We all have a right to voice our opinions but there is a way to go about it. Ie pm or email. Theres no need to bash Ricks work publically in HIS forum.

As for opinions on how Rick should go about handling his business. I suggest you make those suggestions via pm or email and not publically. If I know Rick he'll appreciate that approach far more than starting a public discussion about how he should run his business.

Enjoy your knives brotha! They're great!

I've already said what needed to be said to you. No more needs to be said sir. Pissed? Not even close. You're not the first troll to come around these parts and not the last. Like I previously posted enjoy what ever you decide to stick with. I agree with you on one thing. This thread is now going no where. My point has been made.

If my words have offended anyone. Man up. We're all big boys here.
Peace out.

Have you looked into their warranty? Also voided by any pimping or modding.

You owned an XM-18 so you have seen that the three handle screws and pivot screw pass through the scale holding it on and holding the knife together, it is an integral piece of the knife and manufactured to very precise specs.

Should you be able to replace the Ti/lock side and still be covered by RHK's warranty?

Any manufacturer large or small would be crazy to warranty non-OEM replacement parts.

Just my .02

I'll say one more thing before my thoughts are redacted. It seems to me that civil discourse is a good thing; having strong opinions and supporting them with your thoughts is too, even if it gets a bit chippy from time to time (If the owners allow that). All too often having a strong opinion is now considered offensive. It's all good because we all share a love of the art here. As long as it does not become ad hominem, I say let it go.

In deference to the owners and hommies, I will refrain from visiting or posting on this sub forum in the future....but I will continue to buy the knives!

:jerk it:

All of a sudden all the people talking shit change their tones. From calling Rick and Rob silly to all of a sudden being respectful. Please. If this convo started off civil. It would have stayed civil. We're not bullies here. Not at all.

Who was the first to be uncivil and bitch and cuss like a true keyboard warrior... ya that's what I thought. Now I am being retarded having an argument with a keyboard warrior...

Move on brotha. Your crying is getting old. You have absolutely nothing left to contribute here my friend. You made your point clear. You think the scales are bland and the knives are fugly. LOL. Its understood. Thanks for playing.
