Can I make a bow drill spindle from this?

I've been thinking about making a couple bow drill spindles. Will bone work?
Since I found this one, it certainly has a few good ends to saw off and form as a spindle.

you can use smaller sized bones as spindle extenders and put a wooden plug to start fires, but cutting that up, it depends on how thick it is and how much hollow space there is...

I almost always find it best to make the spindle and hearth from the same piece of wood.

How about you saw off 1 of those big rounded pieces at the end and send it to me so I can make an awesome hand hold out of it
