Can I make a Surface Grinder out of this?

Brian, would you write up a bit about that machime, please, like what is the make and where to get one? Frank
 
It's not a skate sharpener- I'm guessing a bit, but if it's commercially made (and not somebody's shop project) I'd suspect it's meant to sharpen wood-planer or jointer blades

It would take a lot of work to make it do much more than what it was designed for. It appears there's no Y adjustment- the grinder can apparently just go side-to-side.

You probably could, with a great deal of work, make it into a mediocre and limited surface grinder, but you'd have so much time into it, you'd be better off slapping together a simple horizontal disc sander and spending the effort on the blades themselves.
