I have some thinish knives that I am ready to heat treat but I do not know if I can quench them in parks 50, can someone let me know what i should quench them in?

Yes, you can, but it is a faster quenchant that needed for L6. L6 should harden nicely in warmed canola oil, heck it even air hardens in thin sections... Using a faster quenchant than necessary can sometimes cause issues as the steel is being stressed more than needed.

Are you sure it is L6?

No, I was using a piece of a lumber mill saw that I think is L6. I could try heating it and air hardening to test a piece.

Give it a shot. It will work if you nail the temp, a bit over you may very well crack the blade though. Like was mentioned above, warm canola or even motor oil will work ok for L6. you may want to try a test piece before you crack a blade you have many hours into.
