Getting a bunch of rude messages, only some people understand that you get mad when you receive something and it's unusable, I guess... If an admin reads this, please remove this Post.
Thanks to whoever understood my anger.

I would imagine that a replacement should be an easy process - Becker has great customer service.

I would think your first step would have been to ask them instead of going full internet on them. Seems only fare to give them a chance to make it right first.

Post in the Becker sub forum. Send Ethan a PM. He is a very active member on here. Beckers customer service is 2nd to none. Don't give up hope on the blade because of those issues with that particular one.
The BK-16 is a great blade.

totally unacceptable! Send it back for an exchange it shouldnt be a problem! Sucks man and highly unusual my 4 Beckers are stone cold perfect. Dont let this 1 bad blade deter you from BK/Ka Bar...

Unfortunately, a defective one slips through once in a while.

Fortunately, KaBar's Customer Service is excellent and you shouldn't have any trouble getting it replaced. Just give them a call.

And, if you got it from a BF Dealer, they'll replace it as well.

As already mentioned, Ethan Becker is active in the BK&T subforum. Come on in and join the rest of us Beckerheads.

Yup. Get with who you bought it from. Always give the dealer or manufacturer the first chance to make things right.

I would contact KA-BAR about that instead of being like you're being about it. You got one of the very few duds, don't freak out. A little courtesy goes a long way.

The Return Of aLL new knives should be easy. Just contact the seller.

First off I understand your frustration, I really do. The excitement of getting new gear in the mail and finding out it is flawed is hard. I have been there and done that. I would not right off the company as a whole until I give them the chance to fix it. From the pictures you have posted and a little more humble tone I expect Ka Bar to take care of you.

Honestly you will have a hard time finding a knife in that size and price range that will out perform the BK-16.

Please take our suggestion and contact Ka Bar and give them a chance to assist you. Also, please follow up with us and let us know the end result.

Jeremy

Just fyi the OP is 15 http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...-will-fit-in-a-wallet-without-making-it-bulge

This might be a wonderful learning opportunity. I had an opportunity to benefit from KaBar's customer service recently. I contacted them about an issue that I had after I had voided the official warranty. They were responsive, respectful, and they far exceeded what they would have been expected to do. In my experience their customer service is second to none. Unlike you I contacted them privately without blasting them on the internet before I ever gave them a chance. Hopefully they will resolve this for you and you will learn that treating people cordially and respectfully is always the best first option, and you will end up with a BK16 that you can enjoy as much as the rest of us do.

I'm 15 too. Age, IMHO, is not an excuse for publicly bashing the BK16 before even atempting to remedy the problem privately with KA-BAR or the dealer.

Agree completely. Age has nothing to do with manners and social interaction skills. I think the relevance here is that it's not someone who has been buying knives for a long time and has years and years of experience to compare this to.

This, From the pictures I kind of see what you are talking about but does not look nearly as bad as you make it sound.
what about it makes it unusable or unable to sharpen?

I don't have any problem with giving complaints on products. I want to hear about the bad ones. Whether it's 1 or 199 gives an idea of how often it happens. If he never said anything potential buyers would never know. Thanks for doing us a service. Also follow up with whether they make it right or not. Thank you.

Ka-bar doesn't tend to have many bad issues, and most of those are pretty minor complaints from people who expect custom quality out of a factory product. All of them tend to get handled very well by Ka-bar's phenomenal service, for those who give Ka-bar a chance. I personally would never take to the internet unless I had already contacted the dealer and company and given them a chance to resolve the situation to my satisfaction. YMMV.

I think I might have to contact KaBar Monday. All my Backers are showing the same issue.
The coating is coming off with use and when I use them a lot they are not as sharp as when I started. :D
