Can I send this BK-16 back for another?

Now now guys, i know some ribbing is all in good fun, but we dont want to come across like some fanboys that will remain unnamed. Sometimes factory knives have issues, and Kabar is great at resolving them. We dont want to pick on someone for bringing it to our attention. Now I didnt see the original post before it was edited, but as long as the op wasnt being a jerk, giving him a hard time about a complaint isnt cool. I can see the slight bend in the edge, and the uneven shape to the edge, and I can understand him wanting to exchange it. Lets stick to being the awesome group of helpful guys that helped me out when I was new here.

Couldn't have been said any better.

i can say it better.

be nice.

esp you non regulars, yeah, i know the thread didn't start here, but hunting it down isn't cool.

i can see the original post (or any edited post fyi). trying to hid behavior behind an edit is probably something the mods don't like.

now, having seen the original pictures, they ricasso is a little off. 5 minutes with a stone. though if that's supposed to be a bend, i can't see it

the main flat is now quite flat. that's something that can be dealt with, and probably doesn't affect performance short term

but if you are expecting your knife to have convex belly, instead of concave, well yeah, i'd be annoyed too.

Agree completely. Age has nothing to do with manners and social interaction skills. I think the relevance here is that it's not someone who has been buying knives for a long time and has years and years of experience to compare this to.

I haven't been buying knives for my whole life, but that in no way makes my complaint invalid. My age has nothing to do with my knowledge in purchasing a knife online. If you knew me and knew that I had no experience in this kind of thing, then it would be alright. It doesn't take long at all to understand that sometimes you don't get everything you order in a pristine condition.

Your knowledge and age have nothing to do with it.
Your age is not your mistake, your mistake was using moderately foul language on the internet and not giving the company a chance to make it right first.

Try to use common courtesy and we can all get along. There are lots of reasons why a lemon (if it was a lemon, I'm not passing judgement on the maker or you) could have gotten in the mail to you. Someone had a bad day, bins were mixed in the shuffle or someone new was in training. Always give the maker a chance before going further, we all (makers) deserve at least that.

You are pretty new here, welcomed to the forum. Help us make it better, not worse.

You clearly didn't read something right because I have said not a single thing rude to anyone. If I said anything rude to anyone, on any thread, you let me know. The knife has been sent
back and I will be receiving another one soon hopefully.

You may not have said anything rude to anybody specific...but that doesn't mean your post wasn't discourteous.
What has been said (repeatedly) is that you should have simply contacted the seller about returning the knife, rather than making a scene on the internet before anybody had a chance to correct the problem.

I like that you voiced complaint when you paid for a new blade and got something unsatisfactory. We should all know of these things regardless if it's made right, but please do let us know if it's made right. Thank you.

What is going on with this thread? Someone took the time to make a thread about a question and was just getting sarcastic responses.
Whether or not you agree with the OPs opinion/perspective of the condition doesn't matter - don't be a jerk. Makes people not want to post about any potential problems if this is what they get in return.

I don't know if I would send it back, but contacting the seller should do you right.

That's all that needed to be said. ^

Except he was being a jerk about it.

I would assume anyone condoning the thread didn't see it before the edit(s)

I can't see the original, but I can see how he called it a piece of crap in the title. Completely uncalled for I agree. Bashing something in the internet before any research/communication with seller or maker is not a good call.

You called the knife a P.O.C., you went all internet before you contacted the maker. That's what is discourteous. It's fine to tell everybody if you had a problem, the way you went about it was wrong.

If you could learn something from this and accept that you didn't handle it in the best way, the whole thing can go away.

It's a piece of crap in my opinion, I was disgusted when I pulled it out of the box and checked the knife for any flaws. I don't think you get my point. Not even going to open this thread again, I said I sent it back to get another one.

Let us know what your thoughts/impressions are of the replacement, if you don't mind. I for one am curious, this being my favorite knife.

I bet you peek. :p

We get your point. You're ignoring everyone else's.
Okay, you got a lemon. Deal with your emotions. Find out how to get it fixed (courteously). Feel free to post about it. That's the advice.
Trying to play the shame game isn't your best bet.

.... I don't think you get my point...

I think it's totally cool a 15 year old is getting a bk16 and I'm truly sorry he is having a bad experience. But he is advanced for his age. I was, like, 16 before I knew more than everyone else.

I have never understood why people resort to playing the internet card prior to giving the company a chance to make something right. It's your ace in the hole when you don't get satisfaction or are mistreated somehow. Don't play your ace first. It doesn't help your case a bit when you haven't even contacted the company. Hopefully you'll post the resolution of this, it will be a non-issue and you'll have one of the best knives out there. Much ado about nothing. Stick around, make some friends and learn a bit. Come to a gathering and meet some these fine folks. But play nice and be respectful.

I didn't see the original post, but peoples response seems a bit overboard. Teenagers have a tendency to see things very black and white. A Knife is good or flawed (and flawed is bad) It is not surprising that some frustration came out. Advising him to chill and work the process is cool.....jumping his case is not productive and make the forums seem like a very unfriendly place. Seems like some of the people who commented on his behavior could use some of their own advice about courtesy & not over reacting. I hope you are pleased with the new knife.
