Hei.

I am in a big dilemma now.

I ordered a custom work. Communication wase good. BUTT when the specs for it wase cleare and the work wase abouth to beginn.
They asked me for my CREDIT CARD INFORMATION: CARD NUMBER, EXPIRI DATE AND THE 3 DIGIT CODE ON THE BACK!!!!!

I refuse to give it. So we locked for another way of paying. But now i am not so keen on gething it.

I feel not good abouth this now.

Is this normal? What should i do? It is a maker who is trusted and have good reputation.

But you newer know things may change. This is custom work frome USA and this will be shipped to Norway.

Shipping prety expensive so i may youst get it don here if possible.

Thanks

When you buy stuff online they ask for the number, expiration date, and 3 digit code on the back too..
Also, you might want to say which custom seller so we have an idea of who it is.

That is normal if you are paying by credit card. Ask if they are going to charge for the full amount now, or wait until the knife is completed.

Ask yourself, how else would you pay online? You can use Paypal, and I'm sure the maker would accept, but you still have to give Paypal your card info. At least with them everyone will have peace of mind and know their interests are being protected.

I would pay by paypal. I have set up paypal off my credit card and that way I am protected 2 ways. first by paypal and by my credit card. how can you lose??

Yes i know and that is in a payiing site who is secure. But this is sending the info in an email to the seller so he do the payiing for me.

Yes i wanted it to but they could not. So i geth offer in paying with bank cheque.

Is giving my credit card info safe? If for som reason they charg more ore decide to take money out another time to?

Thanks for all the help :)

It really depends on whom you are dealing with. You could ask your credit company to only pay the agreed upon amount to the dealer.

Or, you could ask the dealer for a receipt for the charge, whether it is a deposit or the full amount. Ask your credit card company to alert you if they attempt to charge your card again.

These are just some ideas. If you tell us the dealer, we could give you feedback on reliability.

FYI, I obtained a separate credit card from my bank - a debit card - for just this purpose. I only keep a limited amount of money in that account, so large charges will not go through. I only use that card for internet dealings. Something you should consider for the future. Your bank will be happy to help you set it up.

I would not send my credit card information in an email. It's unsafe and careless to do so as the consequences should be painfully obvious. When any other reputable business tells their customers not to send CC info via email, this is no exception. Wen you have to call the bank, make special arrangments, put limits on the charge in question, and other things it's time to move on. The time involved (your time) should be worth something as well.

and if his email get's hacked?? then your credit card just went to shoot. I would just refuse to deal with him because he sounds shady.

If you trust him enough to pay in advance, get a pre-paid visa and just put enough on it to pay what you owe then shred it.

This is what we do also. A separate card with a low balance just for Internet stuff.

Many credit cards will let you set up a limited use debit account online via your credit card's online service account. You can use it for internet transactions or whatever.

However this maker sounds shady. I wouldn't trust someone who suggests sending CC info unencrypted in an email. Don't do it. I say find a new maker too.

NEVER send credit card numbers via e.mail..!
Use International money orders....or paypal....or bank to bank wire transfer.

What about one of those prepaid credit cards that I have been hearing about?? Lets say you put $300.00 on it so you can only spend that much unless you put more money on it. You see he cant over charge you.
