This grinder is great for rough work but becomes a pain when I try to do final grinding. Any reason why I couldn't get a dial and slow things down a bit?

Stan's got it, to run it with electronic speed control, it would either have to be a DC motor with a controller, or a 3 phase AC motor with a VFD. With the Grizz you're stuck with what you have.

You're not stuck.

It's just not reasonable or cheap

Unplug the motor

Run the grinder by using the other side as an input shaft with a belt pulley on and use a DC motor with a controller, or a 3 phase AC motor with a VFD to control speed

Like they do here

If you do that, you could always undo it.
Then the motor and controller could be used on the next grinder you upgrade to.

i got the grizz too , i'm looking at getting a TDM and just saving the grizz for wood and handle work... maybe profiling blades

Alright, thanks for the replies. Guess I'll make do for the time being and save up for something nicer down the road.
