I also use it on a black trim on my car or whenever I'm detailing it. It makes the black so much better looking. But it don't last too longMineral oil is just fine. Its a light paraffin distillate. People have been using it to lubricate knives and many other things for years......
I'll be dipped I've never heard of that. What kind of medicinal properties does it have? The Japanese use Camellia (tea seed) Oil. Food safe with a variety of medicinal properties.
Also what do you mean by harsh solvents, what would they do to the knife just wonderingThen you SHOULD be ok.
However, some lubes have harsh solvents in them which I would not use anywhere near a knife.
I'd still stick with a good tried and tested gun lube.
Camellia oil or Choji oil, which is mineral oil, both mixed with a bit of clove oil.....but Camellia oil is the real old school traditional method....The Japanese use Camellia (tea seed) Oil. Food safe with a variety of medicinal properties.

Oh ok, yea I’m sure none of that was in the oil I usedSome knives have nylon bearings which can be ruined with solvents. Even some metal washers or bearings can become pitted with frequent exposure to some chemicals. Also, some knife scales can be discolored by certain solvents.
Hey Blade Runner, what are you looking at for your next knife? I'm just curiousOh ok, yea I’m sure none of that was in the oil I used
