Can I Use Water With a Silicon Carbide Sharpening Stone?

I just boiled my SiC edge pro stone. It had separated from the base because I had been using oil instead of water (stupid). Anyway, I'd guess that my thin stone is far more likely to break than yours and mine was just fine. In any case, I don't think it's going to hurt anything to try a few things before you resort to boiling it. Just try hot water, if it doesn't work try hotter water, etc. ;)
