It's very frustrating, especially the last year or so, that so many of the knives on Buck's web site are "currently not available". That's not just for potential Pro Site buyers, it's the same story when you don't log in.

I'm sure () there's a reason for that, but if it's not a state secret and classified, I'd sure like to know what it is.

Here's the classified state secret.......(Shhhhhhhh......don't tell anybody).

A lean, mean, profit machine ALWAYS has people WAITING for product.

A large part of marketing is in the manipulation of the mind of the buyer.

Surplus product waiting to be purchased means loss of money and customer interest.

Psychology: If you can't get hold of one and everybody wants one--it must be a great product!

Conversely, if they're easy to get--they can't be much good. Interest falls off....the problem snowballs.

Inventory piles up.

Employees get laid off.

Armageddon comes.

:)

I wasn't aware that you worked for Buck, BG. If you do, then I'll accept your explaination. Otherwise, I can come up with plenty of cynical speculations on my own with no help.

"adjective: like or characteristic of a cynic; distrusting or disparaging the motives of others."

You don't have to work for Buck to know basic marketing.

Everybody knows that.

Your acceptance of my ideas is not a major concern for me, PD.

I'm surprised you even mention it.

:)

Oh yeah.....and as your post indicates, you already suspect that you are NOT going to get the "State Secret" from Buck.

It's classified.

"I'm surprised you even mention it."

I'm surprised at myself even. I have no idea why except to make the point that I was asking for FACTS FROM A REPRESENTATIVE OF BUCK and not cynical theories from those who only think they know it all. :)

Well, if that were true you could have just sent them an e-mail.

Instead, you chose to pose the question on the public forum--thus the public responds.

See how that works?

:)

How do you know that I didn't?? I posted here in hopes that the response would be made public and not have to be posted here second hand. Fair enough? There's more than one Rep from Buck that frequent this forum.

Help me out guys, what is the pro site. I am a member of the BCCI and never heard of the pro site. I also have never received any info on how to receive the discount when ordering from the website. I feel left out. Thanks guys, Mike

When you got your club membership, you recieved a wallet card with a registration number. You use that to register for the pro-site. Bcci members can buy 2 knives per year at a real good price. Also 2 sharpening items, a bunch of Buck stuff and something else I cant remember. Check out your membership stuff and find that card..

Do I register at BCCi or on Buck's website. I have my number but the card and info might take some time. My wife "cleaned up" and some stuff is missing. Thanks again

you register on the prosite-located on the bottom bar of the page. set up account, where you need that card with a long number on it. after that you just sign in with email and password. I'm not sure how you would recover the card number if it is lost forever, but I think either Jack Foresman at BCCI or Joe Houser at Buck(probably Jack) would be the folks to check with.

He should contact John Foresman at this time. I believe from talking to John a day or so ago, that he's taking care of nearly everything at this time. Jack hasn't been well lately I understand.

From the Buck website New Products Page...

Although some of these items are not available for online purchase yet, they soon will be. Please check back in a few weeks if your product is currently unavailable.

ya i was wondering the same thing, was going to order some knifes and saw they were out. so then thought well these two knives would work, they were out of those as well. so then i thought what about these two knives and they were out. so i went and bought something completely not knife related instead.

kinda sucks but thats how it goes.
