Can one of the knifemakers here at the forums help me?

I posted a similar thread on the Custom knives forum, just because I wasn't sure where this should actually go. I'm looking for someone to make me a small (and I emphasize the word SMALL) fixed for my keychain. I would ideally like it to be between 1/8" and 3/16" thick, and made of a good steel (I'm open to anything from A2 to
BG-42, to Damasteel). It doesn't really matter if its traditional V grind or chisel (I have to learn to sharpen chisel grounds anyway). I'd ultimately like to have a few of them made. For dimensions, think the Sean Perkins style Gryfen (3" OAL, 2" blade w/a hole milled into the small tang for a split ring). Thanks! You really helped me on the Friction folder (I finally found someone to make the one I ended up designing), so I'm looking forward to this! Thanks!

Sincerely,
Anthony.

You want handle material? You didn't say, except you did mention a design I am not familiar with. Is there a place on the web I can see a picture of that? How quick do you have to have it?

I don't have to have it really soon. The design that I mentioned can be seen in this post :s=&threadid=223201]http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=223201[/URL]

In such a short blade I don't really want any scale materials. We're just talking about a no-muss no-fuss knife that's down-and-dirty simple. I'd look at getting a perkins, but he doesn't produce knives anymore. I am buying the knives in the thread mentioned, but I more want them as collector's items (because he doesn't produce them anymore). I want something that if it gets lost, or stolen it won't break my heart. I WOULD want a small sheath, but again no-muss no-fuss. I hope this clears things up a little!
Thanks!

Sincerely,
Anthony

Edited to add: The link above is to an item which was for sale in the Custom section. It's listed under Sean Perkins Fixed and Folder. I'm talking about the little fixed. In a knife so small, scale material would only get in the way of its stripped down appearance I think. Thanks, again.

Sincerely,
Anthony

Anthony,

I do full V grinds. The grind would go to the spine without breaking the spine. The blade has a distal taper which gives a sharp point.

Except for the Full V, do you want the knife to look like that one? Would it matter if I at least rounded off that sharp tang drop? Not remove the tang drop, just round the point. That'll be hard on the jeans pocket I would think?

EDIT: I just looked at it again. If you commision me, I think I'd like to do something to that design - but stay within specs. You know what you like but I see something a little different. However, its up to you.

what would you have in mind? Oh, and is there anywhere I could see your work? You could always email me some pictures. Let me know what you see for the design! Materials? Thickness? Let's hear it! Thanks, again.

Sincerely,
Anthony

Anthony,

I just looked again. I think it was the chisel grind that kinda threw me. I think the overal profile will look good as is. I would just round the point off the drop (and in fact maybe it is on that one but its the way it looks in the picture).

I would like to sell you on the idea of adding very thin scales to the tang, no bolster - just thin scales. It will help make the difference between a nice piece and a very nice piece.

You can also see my rifle work by clicking on the rifle picture below.

Now, I think it is time we continue this through email. I like it here and want to keep my nose clean with these guys. If we start talking money and such I may be breaking house rules.

Here is my email address: rlinger1@netzero.net

Sorry, forgot about thickness: I think we should go with something a bit less than 1/8th. That's pretty heavy for the short 2 inch blade with full V. I'm thinking about 0.100 (3/32, there abouts).
