Can Someone Assist ASAP before I LEAP?

Thanks for the pics and comments Jim. The Catapult is a much bigger knife than I had imagined. The dimensions on the spec sheet but it do not mean much until you see it compared to another knife you are familiar with.

 ...Jim...Is the difference in deployment force quite noticeable between the 296 and the Catapult?...I kine like the way the 296's , 297's and the 298's slam out there when ya open 'em...:D

O.K. now that I have had a week or so to use the catapult and break it...
in... :)

It does open quite smooth and fast! Still not like it will jump out of your hand, but she pops open with authority now that it is all polished up.
It has been my EDC now for a short time, and I think it will continue for awhile! The handle is more comfortable for heavy cutting than the tempest also (IMO)
I think I need to pick up another one... :D

:D...Thanks James...That clinch's it for me...Gonna snatch one up. Is the handle any thicker than the Tempest or Sirus?...It appears thicker and that would be better for these ol' mitts of mine...LOL...:p

It is a tad thicker, I don't have a caliper but you can see the difference in the thickness of the handles in my previous pics. Sorry I can't help more :)
I like it!

:cool:...I have it ordered already...Hard to get any decent knife for $30 let alone a Buck...I love my Tempests and all of my Sirus's or is that Sirii ??:eek:...LMBO... but I just hadda try out this new assist system...LOL...Thanks Jim...:p:thumbup:

Give it a few days for the leap system to smooth, it will be quite nice ;)
Thank Goose and Scott for starting this! :D
Keep us posted on your thoughts!

...Well Jim I took a peek in the ol' mailbox today when I got home from work and there it was...The Catapult. It's a pretty slick lookin' lil' knife. It is about the size that I expected and it seems like it would be about the most "sheeple friendly" AO a guy could carry as an EDC. I did notice that the blade had a really bad case of the side to side "willie wobbles" when I opened it up. Took care of that with a T6 torx in no time...It did take 2 full turns of the screw however...go figure. I Gorilla glued the threads this time...View attachment 76921...:eek:...LMBO...
Gonna play with it fer a while and see how it fits my needs...All in all it's a really nice lil' $30 knife...Thanks for the headsup Jim, Scott and Gooser...

I'm still using mine and I still like it. Gorilla Glue, I still laugh when I think about the 1st time I used it, ruined a project, some serious glue growth:o

...After "flickin' " this lil' Buck open and closed about 12000 times today I'm glad to say the "Gorilla" glue is werkin' great...Tight as a vault and opening pretty darn nice. I can see how ya still like this thing Scott...It's actually a nice knife. A few hits on the ol' strop and it's topping off the hairs above my arm with no problemo...It seems to be built like a small tank as well and for a smallish knife it actually has a little "heft" to it...I like it. The only thing that miffs me a tiny bit is that it is riveted together thus frustratin' this curious "tinkerer" who likes to see what makes it "tick"...LOL...Thanks again for lettin' us know about this lil' toughie Scott...:)

Doc...
How does the LEAP compare to the ASAP?
In other words, 298GY Vs. Catapult?

...Goose...Thanks to you and Scott I have em' both...I have to say that the ASAP Sirii and Tempests that I have are totally different as to the way they feel when the blade is deployed. With the Sirus or Tempest you have the choice of thumbstud or index finger deployment and both of those methods slam the blade open with authority. The Catapult is a bit more subdued in it's deployment of the blade. It's also a smaller knife and the blade reflects the difference in size. The deployment on the Catapult is by thumbstud only and you really do have to "assist" the blade in opening...It's not detracting at all ... it's just totally different. Now that I've been using it kine steady I can get it to "SNAP" open really well with authority of it's own. It's also a lockback and at first you'll be wondering how in the world you can open and close it one-handed...It can be done but you have to get used to moving the knife around in your hand to disengage the lock and then folding the blade into the body with the same hand. It's not a Sirus or Tempest...but I like it. It has a nice texture to the "scales" that I'd actually like to see on the Sirus and the Tempest. It makes for a firmer grip on the knife when deploying the blade. My "mitts" are quite large and I wish it were a bit bigger but for keeping the "sheeple" at ease it's really nice. It really does seem to be put together well although they've done a pretty good job of putting it together so's I can't take it aprt with out drillin' and or grindin' sumthin' off...LMBO...I'm glad I got this one...You'd like it...

I couldn't have said it better! Except that I like its size! ;) Its a tad more sheeple friendly ;)

......Right you are Jim...I guess if you was lookin' fer a "Politicall Correct" AO...This might be it...:D

I forgot mine in my pocket today and went to Kings Dominion, a theme park. They have metal detectors:( . I was given a choice of returning it to my van, or they would lock it in "lost-n-found" and provide a receipt. I opted for the latter, and my Catapult was returned tonight, outside the park at the "lost-n-found". No harm, no foul, but it's not "Politically Correct" to take a pocket knife to a theme park:thumbdn:
