Can someone please explain this craziness to me?

Mr deep pocket's likes the swedge. Id think like 750. But heck. You look at a Hinderer knife at that price all the time. And I would rather have that CRK.

Good for them both if the buyer is in love.

The seller misrepresented the knife by not disclosing it was sent in for a spa treatment. Even though he was not the original owner, by looking at the knife, I was under the impression it was original regardless of how many hands it's been through. And then there's the bidding war, I must say, I wanted to have the knife and yes, I ran up the bid but didn't realize that someone wanted it more than me. Whoever it was beat me by 75.00. Had I won the bid and reading the posts about it, the seller would have had a hard time collecting now that the truth is out. What can I say, got caught up in the moment
And that is the craziness

Yup, you are crazy and lucky.
Things happen for a reason if you ask me.

And blessed!! I learned a lesson today. that instinct will determine future purchases outside of this forum. Whew, I feel like a lucky idiot right about now, and yeah, there are times I don't have a lick of sense, but thank God I'm older and have slowed down

Yep, that is a crazy price for that knife. And to think I have some that would probably double that in a bidding war, its kinda scary how much someone will spend. Money isn't everything though. I love CRK more than any other brand, but would have a hard time spending that much on one, any one. Heck, there is a shadow III on there for $6K+.....lol. Too Funny...!!!

Sometimes greed gets the better of people...

I think, in this situation, in was competition ("I'm gonna' pay whatever it takes to make sure you don't get it!!!") that got the best of the last-minute interested bidders more than greed. I buy cars at dealer auctions weekly and, regardless of how much I want something or how much I don't want another guy to win the bid, I have a rational limit and never, ever spend beyond it. At the same time, I watch other bidders engage in pi$$ing contests all the time...I just shake my head and laugh.

I saw that Shadow as well...ridiculous. Hey, by the way...I have a Sebenza 25 I'd be willing to sell for only 2 grand. It is special because it is on the same continent as Jim Carrey and Tom Hanks!!!

I was watching that one too. I never expected it to get so high. Crazy. If only I had bought a bunch of regulars back in the day, I could sell them all now and retire.

Well.

I am sure we could guess there is the odd dude out there who has lots of money, likes CRK, and the fun of watching everyone crumble under their spending power. That's a really cool knife, but personally I wouldn't take it over having a brand new Damascus, Mammoth inlayed, large 21 and $500 bucks still in my pocket. But then again, they probably already own 10 of those.

In 2008 the plain regulars were something like $385 or $365 and the swedge was a add on.

Originally with sledge, double lugs and polished blade it might have been close to $500, max.

How do you know it was sent in for a spa treatment? I can't find any mention of that in the linked to thread.

There is no mention of it in that thread.

I won't mention what I've been told here, but read some other threads that have been posted today.
