Either Point me to a tutorial with pictures please on How to Do serrations, or Make a new tutorial so it can be archived for others as well if you have a bit of time.
I have looked back and i was reading the different threads started on this topic, and i would very much appreciate if pictures were included, because i'm a novice and can not picture some of these techniques.

Since i'm a novice i would be very interested in doing the work by handtools and not machinery. I was hoping to copy the civilians' serrations for about 2 to 3 inches for my first blade.

take care & appreciate any help you can provide

Believe it or not, it isn't too much trouble to do. The key is to score the center points of where you want each serration with a triangle file (so the next file doesn't slip around), then go to town with a round chainsaw file. That's all there is to it! Just be sure to keep the same angles, and you're good to go!

Thanks a lot eh, and finally i also have a custom knife maker George Tichbourne who is gonna help me out quite a bit. So this is gonna become a lot easier for sure. take care

stacy, on that method the extra piece of rod stock is to keep the fine steady against the knife correct, or am i seeing it differently?

The plain rod taped to the file will assure that every serration is the exact same spacing. It acts as a file guide, by running in the last serration you filed. This technique is for hollow cut serrations, BTW.

ok ya thats kind of how i thought it worked just wanted to make sure.

how much function would change by changing how much you pitch the serations forward or back (i assume it would just change which ditection would cut better but other than that ?)
