I have a nice Team Gemini with tan coated blade and Black and Tan G10 I was trying to trade for a competition finish Team Gemini but surprisingly got no interest.

So I am considering stripping the coating off myself but I have heard the steel is kinda dull grey underneath, but I have also heard some looked just like the competition finish when stripped.

So if someone with a stripped Team Gemini light brigade can post pics I would greatly appreciate it.

If it is dull grey underneath, will mothers Mag and Aluminum polish shine it up a bit or is that a job for sandpaper?.

Thanks in advance.

The pic above is mine and I spent some time hand sanding it.

They look like this fresh outta the stripper,

TGLB on the left and an original run TG on the right.

Yeah I really like the look fresh out of the stripper, it adds to the character of the blade, looks tough. CF looks great too on the other hand...I need one of everything.

I like the un-sanded too, but really like the job you did sanding it. Looks just like CF. What grits did you use?

120, 220 and 400.
All wet sanding and somewhere around 4hrs total. I had planned a full satin finish but it's a lot of work by hand.

Do I have to remove the handles to strip it?

No, you can strip without removing the handles and the stripper wont hurt either Micarta or G10. The plus on not removing the handles to strip is that the coating stays on under the handles so you don't have to worry about under-handle corrosion and the flared tube fasterners stay in place.

Thank you!

Something that isn't obvious, is you will need to use an etchant if you want to keep your BUSSE logo. I put mine on and left it overnight.

Black and green G-10 with some light 400 grit wet sanding. It looks like worked-over pewter.

That looks great

Cypress that looks cool and I think it actually looks better than the comp finish. Maybe like a comp finish that been well used.

Thanks guys! It's definitely got character. It's also a little more beat up now than it was in those pics (as it should be with all Busse knives)

Cypress, that looks awesome. I just got my tglb in the mail on Thursday but I'm def not confident enough to try and strip a $400 + knife on my own for the first time! I love my Black and Tan g10 with the black blade anyway. Maybe if I could pick up a used one for a good price I would try but that's still a lot of $ to me to possibly f it up... I would love to have a black and orange g10 tglb that looks like yours. (And a nmfsh!!!)
