Hello all. I am purchasing a Busse Satin Jack, and I had a question. I want to take off the coating on the blade, to get a nice Satin finish. I could do it myself, but not sure what the best way to do it? some kind of stripper? or sanding by hand? Oh well, any ideas would be great, as the handles would have to probably come off, and then I would have to probably send it back to the company for some new handle rivets? Or, could any of you possibly do a Professional job of getting a nice satin finish from a black coated blade? I don't want to offend anybody, and I know most of you don't work on other company's knives. But if any would be willing to do a simple strip/sand/blasting or whatever you guys do, please let me know.. Thanks so much for the patience.

There is probably a shop near you that has a blast cabinet and could bead blast your blade, if you want to save yourself the trouble of shipping it. A welding shop would be a good first place to call. Most machine shops and many mechanics shops will have one too.

Would one of the makers here be able to do that and then buff to a nice finish? you know, like a factory satin finish? thanks

Also, be ready for the finish under all that coating to be a bit rough. They may say it is for corrosion resistance, but it also allows them to cover up alot.

What kind of stripper do you guys recommend? and should i brush it on, or submerge the knife in it with handles on? thanks
