Can someone recommend a good neck knife?

Personally, I think the Becker Necker's too big, along with the Izula, but that's me (At least under clothing). I can see neck carrying a knife that size outside of clothes (Maybe for hiking, etc).

I think the 3 best neck knives are:
HAK, Emerson La Griffe, & Spyderco Swick/SPOT (Although they're getting hard to get). The finger holes make them ideal.

Having said that, I've been neck carrying the Folts Minimalist lately. I still prefer the HAK, but the Folts isn't bad at all.

I do think neck carry has its merits as long as it's a last ditch use knife, not a priority choice. It's advantage is that it can be accessed with either hand, which is a plus. With a proper neck cord, it should stay where it's supposed to be. Yes, sleeping with it will have it's problems, but I would think one could put it somewhere else than around your neck while you're sleeping.

i have a Fallkniven WM1 that i edc, although not as a necker.

it's a great little blade i rekon you should consider.

There's only about a 1/2 ounce difference between the Folts Minimalist and the Izula (in kydex) and the Izula offers so much more as a knife. I think any well made knife is a good knife, so if it works for you....

It's not the weight, it's the size, although I will admit the HAK's lighter weight adds to its pluses (Which is why it's my favorite).

I agree to whatever works for someone & on that note, I was only commenting on my experience & numerous yrs of carrying & using a neck knife (Yes, for self defense at times), but I'll also admit my comments & experience are work related & probably not inline with what the OP's asking.

There's a difference between concealment & last ditch use vs primary & not so concealment use. I was commenting on concealment/last ditch, not the later, as I thought that's what the OP was asking (Which is another reason why I prefer the HAK or La Griffe).

The Hideaway Knife & LaGriffe are both excellent. The LaGriffe has been on my radar for some time. I don't know why I haven't pulled the trigger on one other than the cost is high, to me anyway.

For self defense, last ditch and all that, there are so many knives I'd rather have in my hand.

The Hideaway, LaGriffe & Swick remind me of something like the Ka-bar TDI - something more aimed at primary weapon retention than a "go to" blade.

I think your choices are all excellent SD knives. :)

These four are pretty popular....

Here's a pic of their sheeths....

Here's my take on these guys...

Becker = best price, largest blade, nifty bottle opener, optional TDI clip makes it great for non-neck carry. -it is a bit large for neck carry though, and yet the handle is a bit smallish, also the 1095 steel is OK but seems to have the worst edge retension of the four.

Izula = smallest/most compact in factory sheeth for easy neck carry. -great overall knife but not quite the best at anything compaired to the others. IMHO.

Swamp Warden = my favorite steel of the lot, SR-101 is awsome, strong and holds an edge extremely well. this one has the longest handle which is good for comfort but makes it longer overall (obviously) ...yet I find that it's still pretty comfy for neck carry. - more expensive than the previous two.

Bark River Necker = compact, comes with fully convexed blade with satin pollished cutting surface, only one with stainless steel, has the nicest handle scales option, sheeth accommodates scales and holds a fire steel. - with handle scales it's the most expensive of the four.

It's a close one, but for me I have to say the Bravo I is my overall favorite for neck carry, followed by the Swamp Warden. ...Though my BK-11 seems to get the most use, but that's because I like the TDI clip carry option over neck carry. :)

Your Izula is so sweet with the reflection in it Bryfry. I have all those but the Becker. All three are great, it just depends on the user and uses as to what one might favor.

I say try them all and sell off the ones you don't like. These three are keepers for me.

Thanks! ....and I agree, they are all great little knives! I don't want to get rid of any of them. :)

...That patina on your Izula looks pretty tough by the way!

I think the Izula-II, when it finally gets out, will be near the top of everyone's list for necker of the year.... or next year. :)

People have mixed feelings about the company, but I still think HAKs are the best neck knives out there. Nothing else offers that much control of a small knife. There are some similar designs out there, like the CRKT Ringers or Emerson LaGriffe, but they're still no match IMO.

Knives like the Izula and Becker Necker I consider too big as a neck knife. It's definitely possible and I've done it without discomfort, but as a last ditch knife the concealment factor is huge to me. As small and light as they are, they still print through your shirt easily.

Some other choices I've tried include the Buck Hartsook and Nemesis Hellion, but the Buck sheath is terrible and the Hellion doesn't offer much for a firm grip since the handle is tiny. I've tried the Spyderco Swick as well - great option but again, the HAK is smaller.

I agree. +1
