thanks for the help guys.

As long as it's in working order and can achieve 2000 degrees, it should be adequate. It won't have the flexibility of modern heat-treating ovens and you may have to pay more attention to it, but that's okay if you're working 'on the cheap' like most of us hobbyists. It's a nice find. Is it something you're thinking about purchasing? Or is it in your possession?

its out in my grandpas shop. from what i understand about that brand it was used in dentistry and he used to make dentures and was a dentists assistant in his younger years. he made the dentures my grandma wore up until the day she died. im also curious as to how much taht thing is worth. saw one on ebay of a alot different model from 1959 and it was like $500.

That is an old burnout oven used for dental casting. The chamber is a bit small, but it will work for small knives. I would suggest that you use it only for carbon blades in the 1400-1500F range. The 2000F is a max, and is hard to reach ,and even harder to hold accurately. That oven is 50 years old or more.
My first jewelers casting oven was an old Ney dental oven. I think it is in NC somewhere now?
