I think I want to pick up a shirogorov.

What are the differances between the 95, hati and f3?

Is there a clear favorite?

I'll try: F95 - full titanium scales (nudist, or with patern or inlays)
Hati - one scale titanium , second - G10 or carbon. Lowest weight
F3 - both scales from titanium with G10 or carbon scales on it. In fact, it's a F95 with scales. Biggest weight
Blades are similar, options - steel, notches on top.
I prefered F95 with "turtle" pattern.

The funny thing is that here in Russia we pay more than double the US price for Sebenzas, Benchmades and Spydercos))

That is crazy, but with customs, duties, fees, etc I guess that is to be expected. When the Shiros first made their way here, they were $350-$400, and people were buying them like crazy. All of a sudden the price doubled almost overnight. So, the high prices were not always what they are now. I'd buy one if I could, but the going rate is a bit too much for me at the moment. I think they are very nicely made, original designs and there is obviously a high level of craftsmanship associated with them.

I would also love to try one but i agree $1,000 for a knife that goes for $300-$400 is absolutely ridiculous.

Isnt there only one dealer authorized to sell them for all of north america? Thats what i call a monopoly.

Honestly, I don't know if there is a single authorized dealer or not. I know several people from Russia have been selling them. The only dealer that I am aware of is Vlad, but other than him there were a few others selling in quantity before. They must be laying low or slowed their roll.

I would gladly pay 4
-500 for one.. But a grand is too much for a single non custom knife.

I am not sure if this is true but I read somewhere that TNK is the sole dealer in north america. He even has his own exclusive model. Before he carried them you could get them relatively cheap. After this dealer started carrying them is when I noticed the prices going through the roof. Not sure what to make of that.

Nice-looking folders, but I can't justify that much money for one folder. There are so many great folders here for $400-$500.

You can pick up a g-10 Hati for right around $700 or below.

With the value of the ruble being so low, I think that if Shirogorov's were produced here, they'd be in the $500-$600 range anyways.

I def. think the base models are worth every bit of $700, and the higher end models closer to $1000. In my opinion, they are the best midtech on the market. I'd say the only other knife in their league is Rockstead.

Having measured the tolerances and comparing to other higher end knives - Hinderer, CRK, Strider, Rockstead ect - The Shirogorov and the Rockstead both surpassed all the others, including CRK, and had tolerances of .0005" - That's 5 ten thousandths of an inch. That's incredibly tight for a knife, at any price range.

That rings a bell now that you mention it. With the devaluation in Russian currency, I am shocked these are still priced so high. I'm with you on not sure what to make of the single dealer. Oh well, it is what it is and we aren't going to be able to change it.
