Can you commit to one knife ?

Can't do it

But I do go through periods where particular pieces dominate or are carried more often - last one like that was a green bone Fight'n Rooster trapper - the Fallkniven TK4 and the big Moore Maker stockman are others that do that.

Hi, Nursie. Is Shing still making knives? Know where to get a hold of him?

And a small sod buster suits me just fine. Cheap and effective.

As far As I know he is.
Dropped you a message
Take care

How you going mdsmith, well I hope.
I think that knife collecting is a personal thing, as is knife usage, I have been collecting knives for a few years...and it was mainly fixed blades, for me in New Zealand carrying a fixed blade is a problem...unless you are in the farming / rural community....but that isnt the reason as to why I am so into Traditional knives now...The thing is that traditional knives can be carried everyday, and the old saying "different strokes for different folks" is so true.
Folders/slipjoints, whatever you want to call them is to me now a habit I just dont want to break, the choice of knife changes almost daily is just great!, and if I dont have a slippie on me...I find myself wanting...
My kids ( girls ) just are not into knives-as much as I want them to be..if they were, I would give them two or three knives to rotate throughout the week-that would give them a chance to experiment with different types of blades, different sizes of blades, different sizes of knives etc...the whole deal that comes with these fantastic implements that keep us so poor :-(

i actually am one that feels a little silly if i carry more than one knife on me at a time. i'm just so confident of my edc -- a vic alox soldier. will have to admit that some years ago while working a radio car as patrolman, i carried a buck 110 on my gun belt and kept a small traditional pocket knife in my pants pocket

Not unless war hits my country or armageddon. Then I probably pack quite few different knives :D

From the age of 12 to about 29, I carried a Huntsman SAK exclusively. That knife is well-worn but still functional, although I retired it a few years ago. It has plenty of "me" in it. I plan to pass it on to my daughter when she's old enough, if she'll have it. I suspect that when the time comes, though, she'll want to go pick out her own (and that will be neat too).

For the past five or six years, I have been carrying either my Case Peanut or GEC #25 Barlow at work, since they are elegant and manageble in dress pants pockets. Those two are getting a bit of "me" in them too.

HOWEVER . . . as much as I hate to admit it, the "knife" that my daughter and others would associate with me most is my Vic Spirit multitool. Untraditional, lacking in character, but it is the one that I carry and use the most. The thing is, if something happened to it I would just shrug and get another one - it has no real sentimental value.

I'm sure guys who carry only one knife for years and years think about knives very differently. I've been carrying the same wallet for several years, and since it's a nice one, I won't have to replace it anytime soon. I don't think about it all that much. It's just a wallet, it has no special significance to me.

Somewhere there are some guys on an internet wallet forum wringing their hands over which one to carry.:D

In the past, I've gone several years at a time with a Buck 110. I did the same with a Schrade version.

Nowadays, there's no reason to just have one. It's part of the fun of having a collection; some stay put away, and others get put into the rotation.
