Can you ever be satisfied with one?

I haven’t found “the one” yet either. I do have some knives for specialized activities; my Dozier Yukon Skinner is my deer hunting blade of choice…if I’m specifically going fishing, I’ll take my Talon (Talonite) blade, although I’m really taking a shining to Fallniven’s WM-1.

For work and probably 80% of my carry, it’s my Mad Dog PATAK. I don’t take it for personal recreation, but it’s seen a lot of field exercises, more countries than I could name and two different combat zones. If I’m putting on my ACU trousers, it’s with me.

For backpacking and woods-bumming, I’m usually carrying one of three blades, Bark River Bravo-1, Skookum Bush Tool or my Martin Knives BT.

Of course I’m usually not too far from a folder or two and my multi-tool…

My most used belt knife is an Esee 4. Time and time again, this knife has proven to me it's worth. It's the perfect bush blade for my needs.

I never just carry one though. That would just be wrong

This is the only knife I have that I feel 100% happy with at all times, it is large enough for any heavy duty tasks I do and yet still has a fine enough edge for the finer ones.

I still carry a couple of different ones because I have them and like them but I if pushed I could quite easily have this as my only blade !

I don't think there is "THE ONE" or none of us would be here  I thought I had "THE ONE" several times but then I come here & look around & find another :D But I'm not looking for "THE ONE" anymore, I like knives & as long as I can afford to I'll purchase them ;)

Marriage is bad for knife collecting so I've told myself that when I find the knife I call "The One", I will get married.

Still searching.

MY SHTF Knife is a Fehrman Last Chance and I am satisfied that it will do the job, though I wouldn't mind having a Peace Maker as well.

I could definitely get by with one. But I love knives too much to try and pick just one.

I classify knives as :Slipjoints/One hand clip folders/Neckers/Belt knives/choppers and machetes. As of right now I have found THE ONE Necker. I made it to wear for my wedding as I broke my leg again before I could finish the sword I was supposed to wear. It is not perfect form a fit and finish point of view, and to be honest it was a scrap piece of steel that I tried filework on for the first time and then decided that I should not let that hard work go to waste. I may be close to a chopper with my Koyote Leuko, but time will tell on that score. Mid sized FB's have much more diversity in purpose and style that I don't think I'll ever find "the one" of these, the same with one handed clip folders. I have an idea for the one slipjoint, but have not had much luck finding a maker for it so I settle with a few.

Here are a couple of pics of my "ones"

I haven't narrowed it down to one, but I have settled on 3 fixed blade knives that I'm really satisfied with -- a Bark River Gunny, an RC-4 and a SwampRat RatManDu. They vary a little in size, which is generally the determining factor in which one I take. The more remote I'm heading the more likely I am to take a little bigger knife. I'm convinced enough that these knives will always fit the bill for what I want in a fixed blade that I have multiples: 2 Gunnies, 3 Rc-4s, and 3 RatManDus.

Seriously, I think I am approaching full circle as far as finding an edc that fills my requirements for my present needs, and through that journey, I have amassed more than enough knives for whatever challenge lies ahead. There are specialized knives that I will have for specialized situations, and general knives for general situations. I think I have matured in my quest, and and happy to keep "Kniving" as a hobby.
Presently, I am leaning towards maintaining my knives. Lots to learn there.
Also, Handle materials are an interest of mine.
Yes, I can be satisfied with one. It is nice to have options though.

I'm going to go with this bad boy, my Fehrman Last Chance. Ever since I've got it, it has been on every adventure I've been on in the outdoors.

Well, I totally understand why one could not be satisfied with just one. However, I could. For instance my Swisstool Spirit is the end of multitools for me. Dont even want to try another one. The Bravo 1 is the best fixed blade for me. I have owned 3 now. No matter what, I keep coming back to it. So, if I buy any more fixed blades, it will be simply for pleasure as it is all I need.

As of right now, my go to knife is a BK-2. I love its ergonomics, and it's rock solid. My only gripe (because I'm always wanting the absolute "best" in my equipment) would be that it's "only" 1095, which I is why I keep my eyes open for a knife just like it with a different steel. I've thought about the Fehrman Last Chance, but that's a lot of coin.

So... yes and no. Aren't I helpful? :)

My Rat RC-4, or ESEE now I guess. Although someday I'd like to try out a Nessmuk. I'm not as into knives as a lot of you guys but I drool every time I see one of these.

hmmm, in pistols i have my Glock 19 and don't geel the need for much else. however, i have duplicates of it and the .22 kit, multiple holsters, etc.
similar thing in rifles, one AR and a few others almost exactly like it.

in EDC folders, i have one, but it's the latest one in a chain. tastes change and things slowly evolve.

for fixed blades... i guess i haven't found THE one yet. if i did, i'd get a couple so there are backups.

Absolutely.

My Bravo1. The rest are just for kicks. I dont even have any customs on order, and dont even look at blades much anymore, except to admire. It might change in the future, but I doubt it. Seeing as im on my 3rd now. I buy one, sell it, buy another some time later, sell it, and now Im keepin it.

This is the same for my swisstool spirit. Another multitool isnt even a thought to me. Had mine forever, and love it.

I do like tools though.....and will buy more, but I would be content with the Bravo, my swisstool, and an axe or hawk, and a chete forever if need be.

I have run into a "Just One Knife " scenario. I mentioned the Cold steel Master Hunter, but I live in Hotels and work on airports, and am with a group of generally sheeple mentality co-workers. I have a multi tool, but have to find a knife that meets fairly specific guidelines on its features. Times are getting more strict. So, I wrote out a list for this just one knife and will be searching for it. It probably will give me a chance to really buy several knives until I find the grail, but I am a-looking! In a month I go on vacation to start my quest.

If I use anything other than a folder when hunting lately These are my favorites. I don't have much time to do overnighters but all day trips durning hunting season they do everything I ask of them.

To give you an idea of the size of the top one here is a comparison worth a large TOPS Tracker
