Can you flick open your Benchmade?

I do not have a mini-grip, but it is my understanding that the blade size and shape would be very similar to that of your 556.

pretty much ya. I don't own either, so I can't check for you, but from what I remember when playing with them in the past, the 707 it pretty much a mini grip with a better handle.

Couldn't have said it better myself. I own 2 mini-grips a 556 and a 558. When I went to the store to check out a 707, I wasnt all that impressed. Just a Mini-grip with Alum hanldes and I think a g-10 insert? Somthing like that.

So to answer your question, Yes you can just "flick" the knife. I hope it still gets to you though.

Lucky for me both benchmades came through - but they were not inspected by customs. And yes, I can flick both of them open out of the box.

So I guess they would have failed the test, but with a very slight tightening of the pivot screw they are now impossible to flick open and therefore would now pass the test. What a crazy law?! However Customs did seize a William Henry Gentlemen's folder I had brought as they could flick it open. I just cannot work it out....
