This will be the prize in the coming week's (7/9) drawing "Free Burl Every Friday" thread.

Can you guess what it is?
I'll give you a hint. It is an Oregon Hardwood. This is not a typical example of this type of wood.

It is not myrtlewood. It kind of looks like tangled piles of spaghetti to me.
This block will be the prize in the weekly drawing for anyone who has ever used Burl Source wood.

Don't know what it is, but i've got some of it in a box in the closet =D my pieces are too small for knives but good for pens or something, and look 100% identical to that. I've always wondered what it is though so i'm looking forward to the answer

Here is another hint.

Most of the burls rot away on the inside leaving a hollow shell or large voids.

This is what it looks like from the outside after the bark is removed.

I keep waiting for someone to say coprolite.

I am heading home but will check tomorrow to see if anyone guessed correctly.

Looks like some sort of oak to me, but I have a mystery burl with similar ropey parts that may be something cherry-like.
