Can you guys comfort me about my Bark River knives?

Did I kind of mess that up? I appreciate the feedback and help
No, you're doing great. It does seem that perhaps you haven't read this thread more or less the threads reporting issues. The one I posted earlier with the bad heat treat that went back and forth several times and Mike never owned up to it and just keep grinding it down was purchased from KSF.

I am so sorry. Mike definitely should of taken care of that, I agree 100% I'd like to see him reconsider and replace. Thank You for the comment, I'm definitely new to all this, and you are correct, I didn't read the entire thread

If you have a knife already that you don't fully trust it seems like a great opportunity to just try it out to the extreme. Don't baby it. Use it for the stuff you'd avoid with a nice knife. One of two things will happen. It'll pass the test and you'll change your opinion, or it'll fail and you'll dispose of it. Either way you're better off

Love the enthusiasm, hang around a bit and do try to read all the posts in a thread before you hop in.

That's weird, my Bark Rivers were total garbage. The best day of my knife collecting life was when I got rid of them.
I'm sorry to hear that. What did you dislike about them? I've got several brands, the only ones I've never been happy with was Kershaw

I like all (10) of my Barkies. Only sold a D2 Bravo 1 in black canvas micarta, since i like burl, the LT version, and PM steels more nowadays.

Never had a problem with their steels. I rotate a 3V Tundra and Aurora 2 in the kitchen pretty much as the only knife for food prep and they hold good edge at least for a month or two at a time. I only use diamond loaded leather strops to maintain them. Convex grinds are cool.

I like to pair Maxamet folders with 3V fixed blades. Best of both worlds.

Finally, I am waiting for a custom Kephart right now - the only knife purchase for me this year.
Nice Group!!

I've gone into detail elsewhere on the forum, but in a nutshell, their steel sucks. And they are sold by a crooked egomaniac and he has his crooked pals sell them as well.

One of his shills hooked me good at a gun show and I ended up with thousands of dollars in BRKs before I wised up. Fortunately there are plenty of suckers who love the things so I was eventually able to kind of get my money back.

The edges on some of the knives I used failed. Some did not. It seemed to be about a 50/50 crapshoot whether ot not a BRK would hold an edge. After a Michigan Bowie suffered edge chipping on light green branches and came back from warranty ground down, I was finished.

The premium price they charge is probably the biggest slap in the face. But people pay it and get one or two good ones (there are a couple that aren't total splitting wedges) and then declare that Barkies are the best thing ever!

I knew where my reground Michigan Bowie was being sold at a bargain price but got no PMs of interest! It did get sold tho!

Anyway, yeah, welcome to the forum!

Hey I appreciate the honesty! I'm sorry you lost money on it all, I'd have a bad taste in my mouth too! I like to hear both sides so I know what to look out for. Sounds like that Michigan Bowie was way to hard. And they never should have sent it back ground down like that. I'd expect a new blade. Thank you my friend

You're welcome, buddy! I'm always happy to help a guy on his knife journey!

How about you regale us with a couple of stories about how your BRKs have "taken care of your life"? I hate to think of any of our servicemen taking a BRK on deployment to anywhere short of a middle school playground.
