Can you help me find my perfect flashlight please?

I highly recommend the Led Lenser m3r, rechargeable lithium ion bAttery. Comes with a USB charger, cranks out 200 lumens for two hours straight (tested) and it takes AAA size batteries once the rechargeable one runs out. 10/10 in my opinion and it's super small. Comes with a 5 year warranty too as all their products do. Around 70 bucks on amazon it's a steal

What about the Surefire E1D? I found it for only $159. I'm also going to grab an Eagletac for backup.

The "D" series, I think stands for defense.

The main issue with them is that they come on high mode first. This makes it hard to use your light for utility, because it destroys night vision when things go from darkness to 200+lumens.

The other issue is the deep crenellations ("teeth") on the bezel. They're designed to weaponize the flashlight. What they mostly do is destroy pockets. Most modern flashlights have some kind of cuts in the bezel, so that if you set it down, with the light on, on a flat surface it allows heat to escape to avoid starting a fire, but nothing as dramatic as the weaponish lights.

I wouldn't carry a "D" series flashlight unless I had another in my pocket to use for everything else.

Malkoff MDC its simple to operate and is simply the best there is.

I'll second this, Malkoff makes great lights. So does Lenslight if you have the dough to drop on a light.

I carry a Xeno (V3) E03 at work; but often switch to a Fenix E12 outside of work. The Fenix is a bit brighter; but the Xeno is a little taller and thicker.
I keep looking at the Eagletac; but I like my small lights simple, and don't want to screw around with tightening/loosening the head to get the setting I want.

I second the HDS recommendation but do agree they are a little pricey. I have owned 6 of them over the year and they all performed flawlessly. I currently only own a 200 clicky model cerakoted in fanta orange.

I must say that the quality I these lights far surpass the surefire lights. I know some will disagree and I have a lot of surefire lights but the HDS is a more refined hand built light.

I will say that after carrying a maratac aaa for a few months, my HDS and all of my surefires just seem too chunky and large for pocket carry.

I have owned a few eagletac lights and also would recommend the d25 as was suggested earlier.

If you could deal with a twisty, the peak eiger with a momentary is really worth a look. Or the maratac aaa in CU. Has a good hefty feel for a aaa size light

BTW if you do get an Eagletac there are 2 D25's make sure you get the "Clicky" the others are twists.

Awesome info/advice as usual, thanks Gentlemen. I got the Eagletac D25 clicky in titanium and it is terrific. It had 2 very sharp edges that I filed away. Perfect size, blinding, runs on 123's. I also got the Surefire but am returning it since it is way too big to carry in a pocket. Too bad because it is a beauty - solid, super bright... The Malkoff lights look excellent but are all sold out. Thanks again.

Come on guys. No one.......

Zebralight is the way to go.

Runs on a single AA and puts out 280 lumes. Build quality is excellent. Incredible user interface. $64.00.

Do your research on it and thank me later. :D

^^^What he says^^^

Couldn't believe it took 20 post for some one to recommend the SC52w.

I really like the EB1 Backup. The Bezel is the same diameter as the bezel on the E1D, but the tailcap is smaller and the overall shape is a little easier to carry IMHO.: http://www.surefire.com/eb1-backup.html

I went with the momentary-on tailcap. It actually starts on low, then goes to high with full pressure. You can rotate the tail of the light for constant-on options. It is simple and has been reliable so far. I've even dropped it on concrete a few times and it hasn't phased it. If I want less light, I carry a Foursevens Preon 1 on my keychain.
