Can you polish scratches out of a CPM-440V blade?

My Military has seen a lot of use. Not abuse, mind you .... but it is showing a wee bit of scratching on the blade. I'm wondering if these can be buffed out. Anyone have any luck trying this, or is the steel just too hard to do without special equipment? My options would be using my Dremel, or taking it to a jeweler and paying 'em a few bucks to try it. Thoughts?

I would think that a dremel and rouge would literally create a mirror finish.

I'd think some 600 grit or 800 grit wet/dry would create more of a factory finish.
